Is my school just really messed up?

...kids have come into class (all levels) drunk/stoned/tripping. I know of many times when kids have used shrooms, alcohol, marijuana, and various painkillers in school. Does this happen everywhere, or is my school just messed up?

I am posting because Geekbabe's thread about hitting a kid reminded me. A drunk kid in my math class today kept hitting me, I asked him to stop, and if he had done it again I really think I would have retaliated violently.

Yes , and you should learn not to take abuse. If it happens again tell him no to do it again.IF he does it again fight him. There is nothing worse than going thorugh life and not being able to stick up for yourself.

But per your original question . I have seen kids on shrooms, doing lines in class. Getting handjobs (not me )? etc. and I went to an exclusive private school.

we used to go to school stoned. but we had enough smarts not to be really obvious about it. If they are really asking for attention over it, then they deserve to be kicked out.

I dont know what schools are like now, but when my daughter was in PSU she hated that ppl just partied all the time.

Well, thats a little worse than here. We have the occasional drunk person, and usually 3-4 people in any class who are stoned from weed. Nothing else really, though.

Oh yeah, and a girl who got caught masturbating in class (shes ugly) and occasional oral sex in the washrooms.

Kids here pretty much do all that, except for the shrooms (that I know of).

I used to hang around some people in High School who smoked out after lunch everyday. it's funny they got a's in their 1st 4 classes of the day and c's in the last 3 classes :roll:

im in llong island New york, our school is just infested with drugs...they had to hook up cameras every where that are linked straight to our 7th precent mostly to monitor fighting though since theres at least one fight a day at my school...but yea people do all kinds of drugs during out periods..mostly just weed and painkillers in school though..its just retarted for people to do shrromz in school

i went to one of the nicest high schools in the country and people still did dumb stuff This was going on 10 years ago. For all the effort the school put in ( 2 rentacops, 2 drug dogs, a few "quadro tracker 4000's" ) the only 3 guys who got caught doing anything were smoking weed in the classroom during a history lesson.

Woah Massapequa eh? I go to Bethpage. We had rampant drug use a few years ago (alotta Coke and Heroin) but all there is now is weed really. A few people once in awhile getting drunk.

I know people who pop pills and get drunk and go to school although I'm not as big of fan. I also know a few people who used to trip LSD at school... that I never got at all, I think I'd be way too sketched out.

Heck my high school was in the middle of classic white suburbia and we had plenty of drunk kids and a few druggies all the time...but I don't think we had kids doing drugs in the building. Just before school, after school, and at lunch off campus.

sounds about even with my school. and ours is rank 9 of 10 on the API index in california as well. pot heads everywhere, gangs, and everybody disrespects teachers, whatever. makes me wonder about america, i thought we were supposed to be the pinnacle of education...? its horrible in high school, thats all i know. im sure higher education is much better though...

In my school, it's always the "lower" people doing drugs and smoking. The people I actually hang out with have decency and are all clean. I try to avoid the "druggies" around here, but it's also nice to get on their good side
