is my computer a motherboard killer?

hi,

I've gone through three motherboards in quick succession and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.

I've got an intel P4 3.2 Ghz cpu.

I've briefly tested all of the other hardware components to be sure that they are working.

Originally I had an intel box d945pvslkr. The computer system was running fine for about six weeks, until the motherboard died. When I say died, I mean that the computer would NOT turn on, and when I would try to turn it on, the fans would begin to spin for a split second and then everything would be still with no activity.

I replaced the motherboard a few days ago with an Asus P5N32. The system worked for about two days, and then the same problem occurred. When I would go to turn on the computer, the system would not turn on and the fans would begin to spin for a second -the computer would go still with no activity.

I replaced the Asus today with another Asus (the same board) and the system does not work. Instantly, I am experiencing the same problem. The computer does not turn on. The fans begin to spin. This third motherboard introduces something new though. The cpu's heatsink fan does not begin to spin at all (I know that in the last Asus mobo, the heatsink fan would spin for a split second with all of the other fans).

Does anyone know what could be wrong with my system. Why is it ruining every motherboard that I put into it?

Are you using the same PSU with all these motherboards? If so that could be your problem.

On my old Gateway PII system the PSU blew and killed the cpu, ram, hard drive and graphics card. However when that happened the pc wouldnt power on at all, but its worth considering.

Have you used the same graphics card and ram on these systems too, have you tested these out elsewhere? can you rule these out as problems?

I used one PSU with the first mobo, and another PSU with the other two mobos. (however, same model and same brand)

I have used the same graphics card and ram. Before I replaced the mobo the first time, the people at the PC store near me tried out the graphics card, ram, CPU, etc. in another motherboard -just to see if they worked. They did work, but I'm not too sure about the long-term stability of the hardware.

Are you using the same case for these motherboards? Maybe youve got something ratteling around in there, or possibly one of the screws holding the motherboard in is touching one of the components?

Bit of an awkward problem this, especially if all the components work on their own.

Is your case akward to install in? Anything sticking out and touching the board? I am wondering if there are short circuits being caused by the case.

I've got a Silverstone TJ06, which is a full-size atx tower. All of the spacers and screws fit in the board. The last two boards were put into the case by the people at the PC store near me and they made sure that all of the spacers and screws were put in properly.

I don't have another motherboard to test my P4 processor in, but I was wondering.... could it be possible that the CPU was having moments of instability, causing the motherboards to die, but that only now the CPU has died? I'll have to find some way to test the CPU to see if its dead, but I was just wondering anyway
