Go install 27.42's, then install NAV 2002 and try doing a manual scan = hmmm?
Then try opening an eBook = hmmm?
Try opening VMWare with nView enabled = hmmm?
etc, etc.

Go to www.nvidia.com and download 27.42's = hmmm?

<< Is it just me or is nVidia slipping a bit in this department?

It's just you. With every new release of drivers (except for the 23.XX release) I've always had a performance increase.

what rock are you crawling out from under? There are so many driver problems with Nvidia its sickning! Matrox crads rocks, I love my G400 millinium the dualhead feature is great and it owns in Linux, and you just know you cant beat the DVD MAX option also!

Dreadogg - Glad others have noticed as i thought it was me just being nitpicky looking further than my gaming/benchmark shortcuts :D

I fear that Matrox, if this Parahelia rumour is true, is just going to do theyre usual trick of too late to market :(
If they are late to market, lets just hope that its because they ironed out all the bugs and got drivers up to snuff BEFORE RTM.
This business of releasing cards without decent drivers which you have to wait anything up to 3 months to mature is getting to be a joke.

<< To tell the truth, I don't understand who might need Matrox, and why. >>

Matrox has some of the best support for "alternative" Operating Systems. My G400DH works perfectly under: OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Linux, BeOS, Win98, and Win2k. Because of the fact they seem to help out the developers a little more than most of the other companies I will choose Matrox over any other graphics card companies any day of the week, depending, of course, on what I will be using the computer for. Since I dont game and dont work with 3d, Matrox seems the best solution for me.

There have been some problems of late, such as the infinte loop error. I'm not sure nVidia drivers qualify as crappy though.

The post about 27.42's is in reference to the fact that they are BETA drivers, and not supported. In fact, ALL of nVidia reference drivers are not-supported even though most card manufacturers distribute them directly.

<< Matrox cards are extremely slow in 3D and have buggy drivers, as far as I know. Even the latest G550 can't outpace the GF2MX 200 and even the Radeon VE (in 3D). It doesn't have the T&L block either. As for '2D' apps and their 'quality', may I humbly suggest that since the invention of DVI we don't make a big fuss about '2D output quality' etc. All cards are the same in this department nowadays. To tell the truth, I don't understand who might need Matrox, and why. >>

Trust me, Matrox Drivers are one of the best in the industry, none of the big companies can even come close to tha stability and quality of matrox drivers. 3D in matrox cards are up to pare with TNT2 Ultra, they havent been making 3d cards to compete with the high end gaming cards since then. Not all cards are even close in 2d today, just get a highend nvidia, ati and matrox card together, put them in 1600x1200 and see the difference, its obvios.

I have owned several Matrox cards over the years - I don't think I ever had a problem installation or needed to update a shipped driver. All you gamers who have become used to being a (paying) part of the development program, have forgotten that's how its supposed to be.

damn.... if matrox had a card that was in the ballpark with the latest i'd probably get it. granted, the leadteck ti200 tdh i'm running has ati quality 2d, but thats not good enough. and i like matrox anyway, have since the old millenium days.

<< Even the latest G550 can't outpace the GF2MX 200 >>

matrox's fastest 3D card was the G400MAX, which owned the tnt2 U and even gave the GF256 a run for its money when that chip first came out. matrox's cards since then, the G450 and G550, have been slower at FPS.

In the last real test about signal quality matrox was just medicore and ati was great (elsa geforce 2mx 511 was great too)
this was a real test not just "I think this picture is better what are you thinking?"

yeah right.. this test sucks.. apart from that altavista did only translate the first pharagraphs

Word counts on page
2x Matrox
0x G400
0x G450
1x G550

Matrox cards arent even in this review of yours

Its a real test with hitech equipment not a hobby test on a website

search for "Signalqualität" (2d quality result) ++ means very good

According to the translation, the link you provided is a test of hi-performance 3D cards, no Matrox card is actually included in the test.
