Bill Clinton says the slogan "Make America Great Again" is Racist? He has used this same exact slogan numerous time. What a tool!

http://www.hannity.com/articles/election-493995/watch-bill-clinton-says-make-america-15092967/

Bill Clinton is accusing Donald Trump of veiled racism in his use of the "Make America Great Again" slogan but there's just one problem: Clinton himself frequently used the slogan himself on in previous campaigns.

"That message, I’ll give you America great again — If you're a white southerner, you know exactly what it means," Clinton told a crowd in Orlando, Florida this week. "What it means is I'll give you the economy you had 50 years ago and I’ll move you back up the social totem pole and other people down."

Clinton himself has used the slogan "make America great again" on numerous occasions in the past, including in 2008 when he used it in support of Hillary's presidential campaign. According to his own logic, wouldn't this make Bill a crypto-racist?

No its actually a very good campaign slogan. You can see the business influence its simple and who doesn't want America to be great?

The talk and lack of plans behind it are what's worrisome.

BTW its Politics I'd feel bad for Trump if he didn't use "people are saying..."
Bill Clinton used the same thing against Trump

Here's the thing about dog whistle politics.

The people who employ it, are the people who hear the whistle.

It's projection + lack of self awareness.

This.
The slogan is good, however the muscle behind it is what's concerning. So, no, "make america great again" as a statement is not racist, how that is to be accomplished per the candidate is questionable at the very best, and have been accurately interpreted as having a racist bias.

Isn't Bill Clinton a white southern? Oh that can't be right. He was the first black president in the USA by his own volition. Just ask Obama, as I'm sure he agrees.

Well when Trump says it, it's got a different meaning.
Like when dems say they want to take care of drug addicts there would be more money and social programs and when the GOP decides to "take care of drug addicts" they lock them up. Same words, different meaning.

It could be, depending on the target audience and the messenger.
To me, make America Great Again is actually socialist slogan, since we had 70% top marginal tax rates when America was "great."

Yes, unlike Clinton, Trump seems to want to go back to the fifties when we started what became the Iranian revolution. And minorities were minorities and largely a sub-class. Good times!

Thanks to Kennedy/Johnson at least the domestic policies were getting better.

When exactly did America stop being great and why?

(Yes the country has issues but it's a much better place to live than the vast majority of the countries on the planet.)

If you never thought Nixon's "Law and Order" refrain wasn't finely pitched to those blue collar white males who explicitly feared and detested uppity blacks (and hippies), then you also won't see the same in Trump's "Make America Great . . . Again?"

And that's what makes his dog whistle call to arms political genius . . . those who don't want to see it's underlying divisive darkness never have to.

Well since the OP is pretty doesn't see sexual harassment either, I doubt the blinders will come off for Trump's campaign slogan.

For a lot of reasons one could say that. But yes indeed there are much worse places, but does their disfunction excuse ours?

No it is not. Trump is referring to making the country great again in the economic, infrastructure and military sense. As it is right now, many roads, bridges, tunnels need major rebuilding before they fail. Same with the national electrical distribution grid, which is very old and needs repairs and upgrades. Our military force strength needs to be rebuilt as well.

Has Trump ever said when he thought America was last "Great" and what was so great about it then?
I suspect the last time it was "Great," to Trump supporters, Jim Crow laws were still on the books, and the Voting Rights Act wasn't.

GOP can pass an infrastructure bill at any time, Obama has been waiting for it. But they think infrastructure spending is "porkulus."

You just better hope you are not on one of those bridges that decides to collapse. Sooner or later you have to fix them. Look how long it took before the Tappan Zee Bridge in NYS was finally rebuilt. It's time had come. Too old to properly maintain and it could not handle the high traffic volume. Another area that needs updates is the Air Traffic Control System (both the equipment the controllers use and the radar equipment)

The obscene amount we spend on the military is exactly the reason why our infrastructure is crumbling.
