According to this site:

Safe to unsafe (To give some perspective)

Portland, OR > San Antonio, TX > San Francisco, CA > London, UK > Athens, Greece > Hanoi, Vietnam > Milan, Italy > New York, NY > Mumbai, India > Tucson, AZ > Los Angeles, CA >>>> Detroit, MI

Looks pretty safe to me.

Woo Hoo! We're safer than LA! Probably because no one has anything to steal but still, a win's a win.

Just make sure you don't go to the bad areas and you'll be fine, just like with most major cities.

its much better than it used to be.
London was a real shithole for most of the 70's and 80's.

They just elected a muslim mayor, you should be fine.

Which leads to a question: How big of a shithead does the other guy need to be for a Muslim mayor to get elected in a city that's 12% Muslim? It's like a freaking Rastafarian winning Prime Minister of Norway.

Every Londoner uses body armour head to toe and packs an AK47 for security. True Facts!

Whut? You mean platforms and positions of a candidate matters not?

Btw Muslims make up 5% of Calgary's population yet they reelected a Muslim mayor for a second term. He must have ran against Hitler.

p.s. Goldsmith ran a campaign based on hate. Londoner did not care for it.

There's a feeling I get in Europe, it must be the architecture, because I get a similar feeling in old Boston. Having grown up where no building was more than fifty years old probably has something to do with it. It's almost like everything has more substance there and was built with classical aesthetics. Here everything seems built for efficiency and profit and is much more predictable.

I doubt OP will ever go to UK, London, Europe etc...

nope, i made it! i decided to take my chances and so far it has been awesome. so much history, and the weather has been gorgeous to boot!

except that they apparently don't give you washrags (eh, "flannels") in hotels. hope they don't mind that i used a small towel as a rag.
