It's better than the original in almost every way.

It really is. The graphics are better. The gameplay is better, like the map where you have to find the gas cans and fill the car to escape. Also the spitter in L4D2 allows you to prevent the survivors from camping all in one corner which L4D1 suffers from time to time.

And yet I can't get into L4D2 as much as 1. I still play 1 and I love it, but 2 I just can't get into it. Not sure why, maybe because I'm unfamiliar with the maps, maybe because it's just a bit too hard for the survivors to make it all the way, maybe just the teams I've been on. I dunno what it is but I like 1 a lot more than 2, even though theoretically 2 is better in every way. In practice, it bores me, and I can't quite put my finger on the reason why. I can play L4D1 for hours and hours match after match, L4d2 for one match before I get tired of it.

Seems to me console owners are always happy to spend 60 bucks on a game.
:awe:

That's because unlike a computer that is useful for other things besides gaming, a console without games is just a giant, expensive, useless paperweight. So it's owners feel compelled to buy games for it, even if they cost double what the PC equivalent would cost.

I paid $35 for it... and I would have paid $50. The realism mode makes the game so much more enjoyable.

Like others have asked: Where are you getting the game for $15?

Friend selling it to me locally for $15. He hasn't had time to even open and play it so he decided to just get rid of it. Plays a lot of other games too.

This is not the online version but the boxed copy. I prefer buying it online but I can't find it for $15 or even $25 online. Cheapest was $37 once.

Does anyone know if you can play as the old characters in Left 4 Dead 2 somehow ? I never bought Left 4 Dead 2 when it came out because I hated the new characters.

Sense I like to try and prove people wrong. I just found out there is a way! Not only the characters but the old left 4 dead maps can be played in left 4 dead 2 as well! Awesome!

Scavenge mode alone is worth $15.

BTW its funny Steam still sells it for $50 when I preordered on the same platform for $33/each with 3 other friends.

you missed it for 7.50 during the christmas sale :(

Yeah, I decided at the time to hold off thinking since the new one was out they'd offer a sale again reasonably soon. The original is still quite popular though so I think thats why it hasn't hit low sale price. Once I finish Crysis and Crysis Warhead I may just have to bite the bullet and pay the going price.

Yeah it is. It was $45 if you preordered it at first. Thats what I paid for Left 4 Dead and it was well worth it! Glad I got the first one right when it came out because I was able to have the most fun with it before all of the community left for Left 4 Dead 2 :( Though I wasn't going to pay another $45 or even $37 for Left 4 Dead 2 so soon after. Just glad I had a lot of fun and most I could have with Left 4 Dead. People who got it later didn't have as much time. Like the people who got it for $7.50 sure it is a really good deal but that deal only happen after Left 4 Dead 2 had been out unfortunately.

As you can see their is nearly three times as many players for Left 4 Dead. I still see myself playing Left 4 Dead though. I still like it better including the characters. Left 4 Dead 2 maps and graphics are awesome though. Just miss the characters. Thankfully I can now have the old characters in my Left 4 Dead 2 as well!

exactly how i feel. i haven't played 1 in several months but i've tried playing 2 a few times. played the carnival level yesterday and was bored out of my mind. might jump on a server with the old game and see if i still like it like i used to. i'm also lazy and don't want to take the time to learn the awesome spots for infected to be and the maps period.

Ah its an ok game but I am back to playing the first one which is better.
Its like the old saying "dont go fixing something that isnt broken". L4FD was fine by itself and simple for what it is. L4FD2 upgraded a lot of things, graphics, weapons, special infected and melee...but as you add more things to a game balance becomes an issue. My 2 biggest problems with this game is I feel they give health packs out like candy and hunter/smoker are kind of gimped. Health packs in the old game are kind of far and inbetween how it should be. In the second one I feel the AI director just gives them out because he is bored and has nothing better to do. In the second game the hunter has no real high spot to pounce from which kind of kills the fun of being a hunter. Also the smoker basically has no death pulls in the second one, where in the first one all you did was death pulls and it was fun. Another smaller issues is the new weapons are super powerful and make the shotguns seems worthless. In the first, shotguns were like jesus wrapped in bacon......

Well, Crysis is disappointing me. Its like FarCry2 in some ways how they did things. Kinda buggy too in some areas although that doesn't upset me so much as some of the level designs. I decided to splurge and buy Left 4 Dead. In the mood for some zombie killing. DLing now via STEAM at 2.1-2.3mb/s. Just thought I'd share while its DLing.

Yep it's really awesome in the beginning and you're like WOW this is a great game but then realize how little content there is and gets old fast. That with the horrible match making that most of the time throws you in laggy servers, it's not a great experience. I love L4D and even created an AT Group for it on Steam but then got bored of it after a couple of weeks.

Well, any game can get tired or boring after a while. Thats why I play other games too to break up the monotony. However I think L4D will fit that spot where I can just jump into a first person shooter for an hour or two when I get the itch to blast away baddies for a short time. I had hoped FC2 or Crysis would fit into that category for me but alas, they won't.

L4D 2 sucks, and so dose the first one (in my opinion). Its got that arcade feel to it.
