The lack of flicker altogether on LCD is a big plus. For those few who do still get some flicker on their LCD's: switch to DVI, or don't use a DVI cable that's as thick as a pencil! Splurge on that nice fat cable because you shouldn't have any flicker whatsoever!

The beauty of LCDs is they don't flicker no matter what connection or refresh rate you're at.

Actually Dell makes an 18" LCD, or at least they used to. I have one at work.

Also, most high resolution LCDs seem to be limited to 60hz when on DVI. I don't know if this is an issue with LCDs in general or just the ones currently out, but 60fps is a little low for some games. The 85hz and 100hz available on CRTs is better not only because it reduces flickering but also gives higher framerates.

My 11-month old SyncMaster 710T runs DVI at 75 Hz with no problem. I'd tend to think most other ones could as well. DVI has nothing to do with the refresh rates the LCD supports.

I've been using LCD's for almost 5 years now and whenever I have to use a CRT, my eyes hurt.

Same here. I look at my dad's CRT I get a killer headache now.

Since when do LCDs not have color temp adjustment?

It's not that great. You'll see how much better LED backlights are when they come out at reasonable prices. The CCFL (fluorescent) backlight puts a white/bluish cast on everything.

I mean the 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 ones. I don't think I've ever seen a 20"+ LCD that does over 60hz on DVI and it appears to be a limitation of single link DVI from what I'm reading.

Never mind then, single-link DVI does limit it to 1600x1200@60Hz or 1920x1200@52Hz (from that Crossfire thread I read).

Cool, I never knew that. Never researched it either... I just never seen one. Thanks for the information. I can add it to the archaic computer hardware section in my mind.

I have an LCD due to size restraints, and while it looks nice and colours are vibrant, they aren't accurate. Even after adjusting it to 6500K, and using the Nvidia calibrating wizard, i still can't get the colours to look half as good as my friend's CRT. Lcd panels simply don't have the capability to show proper reds in my opinion. However, I won't be the first one to admit that text is awesome.

LCDs have more WOW-factor also =P
I have a 19" LCD and my friends are all like, "whoa thats huge!" Now if I had a CRT, they'd say the same, but in the bad way.

Ok... I got in on the last 2005FPW deal... (w00t) I used a 900NF for about 4 years or more up until the 2005 1 month ago, so when I go home and use it this weekend, I'll report back. I took the 900NF home as soon as I got the 2005 (literally 5 minutes after opening 2005), so I couldn't do a side-by-side, but the 900NF was nearly perfect except for the inherent disadvantages of a CRT (huge, bulky as fvck maybe?), but I'd like to see how the usability is after using a LCD for a decent time.

But as of now, the LCD is MUCH better. It definitely is much easier to look at for long periods, and widescreen is great for what I've noticed thus far: general web surfing, coding, gaming, movies. Good enough for me!! All I need is to snag a VCR and I'll be watching TV on here too.
