I think Psaki was mocking the reporter and perhaps commenting on the fact that Biden hasn’t received a single briefing from Space Force. She wasn’t mocking them.

But I may be biased. I think I’m crushing on her just a little bit.

Goddamn Redheads.

She clearly was mocking the question as being pretty frivolous and pointless at the momeent.

Personally I'd come out and say that I think space is a great place to invest and that peace is paramount, so that I think the money would be better spent at NASA. Let Boobair try and piss and moan about NASA getting more funding. That's something that even some Republicans won't do since they depend on NASA pork barrel projects to stay in office.

That was part of my thing. NASA is half military anyways. It does some weather and exploration, but most of the astronuts are military. Why not just modify the mission of an existing group instead of creating a new one?

She wasn't the only Repub to complain about this. This is such a serious matter I was thinking about posting it in the Biden scandal/tan suit thread

Top House Republican demands Psaki apologize over 'disgraceful' Space Force quip (msn.com)

“It’s concerning to see the Biden administration’s press secretary blatantly diminish an entire branch of our military as the punchline of a joke, which I’m sure China would find funny,” said Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.).

An "entire branch of our military". Ruh-roh, drama-queen alert!

Klingon Warbirds have crossed the Neutral Zone, just as Star Fleet has been "diminished" by this woman's mockery.

Takes Air Force functions and creates an entire bureaucracy as a branding exercise.
Given enough time, he probably would have separated the Submarine force out of the Navy and called it the US Atlantis Corp and called them all Aquamariners with Trident symbols just so he can claim he expanded the military.

Considering we just had a President who referred to our intelligence agencies as enemies, this guy Rogers is the joke.

Another tan suit moment

I think you mean Romulan Warbirds. The Klingons are our allies.

Plus, how would we know? They're cloaked!

My fuckin ass an entire branch.

Their mission is to operate the GPS satellites. A dept at best.
No reason to have them other than to waste money.

When we have actual spaceships, then maybe, but at that point give it to the Navy as boats are obsolete most likely.

If they had a Ship capable of exploring the solar system, it would be a good way to develop Space technology. You would have to build an Orbital Hangar to build something large enough though. One day it will make sense.

Most people generally agree that the NASA budget needs to be increased. Militarizing it (whether through Space Force or directly) is essentially the same thing.

I would honestly not shit on the concept of expanding it altogether via the "OMG EVERYTHING Trump did was WRONG narrative that morons want to shove down your throat.

They operate the US Space Surveillance Network as well as all of our communications and surveillance assets in orbit. SSN maintenance alone is a monumental and difficult task. It actually makes some sense to move some of these operations to a new branch (this all used to be done by the Air Force). Unfortunately Trump’s idiotic branding attempts and pretending that this isn’t all work that’s been done behind the scenes already for decades turned it into a joke with the general populace.

Eh not really a surprise. Military spending is a big business in the US and having one more department to allocate tax payer money to means more money for the DOD. The DOD is to big of a juggernaut for any administration to take on even Bidens. So the out come is "Hey fall in line and backtrack on the Space Force statements." which is what we have here.
