Space Force is just a stupid fucking name for a branch of the government that has a legitimate purpose: maintaining and defending the satellites that allow our country to operate. The satellites are now a part of our "basic infrastructure". Those things fail or get destroyed in an act of war, and bad things happen.

Just has a stupid fucking name.

All that said, this country is falling apart at the seams and needs a few trillion dollars allocated and spent immediately. We need to make our electrical grid redundant and safe from EMP/CMEs, along with adding in massive amounts of renewable energy sources. We need high-speed rail to connect major cities with support to surrounding exurbs. We need to rebuild the interstate highways. And those are all real jobs building real things inside this country. But I digress.

Eh not really a surprise. Military spending is a big business in the US and having one more department to allocate tax payer money to means more money for the DOD. The DOD is to big of a juggernaut for any administration to take on even Bidens. So the out come is "Hey fall in line and backtrack on the Space Force statements." which is what we have here.

They didn't backtrack. They just hadn't said anything about it.

My fuckin ass an entire branch.

Their mission is to operate the GPS satellites. A dept at best.
No reason to have them other than to waste money.

When we have actual spaceships, then maybe, but at that point give it to the Navy as boats are obsolete most likely.
Hmm, let me guess, in San Pedro?

Ok if you wanna nitpick that's fine. There was obviously a clear difference between the comments first made by the press secretary and her latter comments made regarding space force.
My original assessment of the situation still stands. No administration can take on the DOD.

China Won't Talk Arms Control with U.S. on Earth, Biden Seeks A Deal in Space (msn.com) [Newsweek]

U.S. President Joe Biden speaks with China's President Xi Jinping for their first summit since the former took office in January via virtual link in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., November 15.
