Is it unreasonable to ask my GF to pay 1/2 of a speeding ticket?

I told my girlfriend I would take her to work and we left the house a few minutes late. About half way to her work I went through an intersection that has one of those red-light camera's that give you tickets for either speeding or running a red light.

I think I was caught by the camera (Normally the camera flashes a bright light to illuminate the car, but it was 9:30 AM so I don't know if it didn't flash because because it didn't catch me, or if it just didn't flash because it was already pretty bright outside).

I was going 43 mph in a 37 (70 kmh in a 60).

Now given that it's my fault for going the speed I did without being told to do it, is it unreasonable for me to ask my girlfriend to pay half since I was only going that speed to get her to work on time? Or should I just suck it up and tell her that I don't care what the situation is from now on, I won't speed for any reason just to get her somewhere on time?

YOu were driving, you were in control of the car. You are at fault. Just need to learn how to Tune Out the GF. SOoner you can do that, the better you will be.

is this a new relationship? do you care if this escalates into a horrible situation that will probably end with a breakup? What's the cost of the ticket, and your financial situation?

Even if she asked you to speed, be a man and just pay the ticket. If she was sweet, she would offer to help, which you could accept. But, this seems really petty and would probably piss her off if you asked in this situation. All IMO

Yes it is unreasonable. Did she tell you to speed? This shouldn't even be an issue.

Well I assure you this wouldn't get me dumped or lose sex...

I'm just annoyed that I'll have to pay $125 for doing her a favor.

Doing her a favor is driving her to work. Speeding is not doing her a favor, she should've gotten her ass outta bed earlier so you could've left on time.

Huh? I said I'm responsible for my driving, and I said it wasn't really anyone's fault we left late... it just worked out that way.

don't be an ass. it's your ticket to being late for any occasion. "last time i rushed to get to you and i got ticketed. i'm not taking anymore chances". heh

Well if you're asking her to pay 1/2, then you're accepting only 50% of the blame, as opposed to 100%. Unless she used Jedi mind tricks on you to get you to drive fast.
