I think I was caught by the camera (Normally the camera flashes a bright light to illuminate the car, but it was 9:30 AM so I don't know if it didn't flash because because it didn't catch me, or if it just didn't flash because it was already pretty bright outside).

I was going 43 mph in a 37 (70 kmh in a 60).

Now given that it's my fault for going the speed I did without being told to do it, is it unreasonable for me to ask my girlfriend to pay half since I was only going that speed to get her to work on time? Or should I just suck it up and tell her that I don't care what the situation is from now on, I won't speed for any reason just to get her somewhere on time?

if you EVER want a morning hummer on the way to work again... pay the damn ticket..

Wow how close are you two ? You shouldn't be ASKING your gf for money, especially for things like that. Even GFs who aren't afraid to spend money on dates where you go dutch... that's just going a bit overboard making her pay a ticket.

the driver should pay
as the driver you are responsible for the operation of the vehicle, thusly, any fines incurred while driving are the responsibility of the driver

driver pays

I accept 100% of the blame. I think it would be nice of her to pay for half of it though since the ticket never would have happened if I didn't take her to work.

I really thought this was a parody. Are you freaking serious? The fact that you are even considering this before getting the ticket shows your values. You are pre-meditating getting your GF to pay half a speeding ticket to cover your ass when it is entirely your fault! Suck it up man, if they mail you a ticket, just pay it since you were the idiot speeding anyway. If you know you are driving, get her ass out of the house faster. It is not "no one's fault" if you leave late.

I think he's a troll or an idiot. I don't think those things go off for speeding. It probably flashed from a light source reflecting off of the window in front of the camera...

If she's hot, pay it all.

If she's average, ask her to pay half.

If she's fugly, ask her to pay the whole damn thing!

What state do you live in that red light cameras are being used for speed control?

You realize that those cameras only go off when you run the red, right? Or are you just one paranoid idiot that hasn't even recieved a ticket, doesn't know the purpose of the cameras, jumped to wild conculsions and is going to ask your gf something completely unreasonable as a result of your wild assumptions?

If somebody wants me to drive faster I ask 'are you getting the ticket?" ahead of time

One time on a long road rip with 6 other guys in a van we agreed to put the speeding tickets into the same category as gas to be split up after the fact.

You chose to speed, you suck it up and maybe she might offer to pay half, maybe.
