You really should have adjusted them in that case.

Ah. Well done. :) Misaligned headlights are one of my pet peeves when driving.

i hardly use them because i'm very good at memorizing the roads i drive on. if it's unfamiliar territory and it's not well lit, then i'll use the brights

Almost never. I haven't driven without traffic in years quite frankly. Everywhere i drive even late at night always has cars coming the other way frequently.

i use them at least a few times a week. i take back roads to school a lot, or i'll take back roads instead of the freeway because they are more fun (although slower).

I rarely use mine.

One thing I really really hate is when one side of a person's headlights go out, so instead of getting a new bulb and fixing it,they drive around with the high beam on instead so that they have one highbeam and a regular light...

I used to use mine constantly when I lived out in the country where we had lots of deer and other animals. High beams are basically provided to expand your viewing distance when other cars are not in front of you.
Now that I live more in a city enviroment, I haven't turned them on in quite a while, I'm never alone on the road :)

BTW, its a good idea to turn on your lights in rain or fog (but NOT the high beams in fog). In fact, NY state has a law that if your wipers are on, your lights must be on as well. Basically this is just so the other cards can see you, since rain can obstruct view.

I turn my lights on even if it's not raining but the roads are wet and the sky is dark, because I think the water spray and low light obscures visibility.

I remember when they first came out with these newfangled halogen lights. A friend was trying to convince me to spend the extra bucks for them when my lights needed replacement. I told him I never even use my brights, so why would I need 'em? "Oh, never mind..."

My night vision is poor, but there is little opportunity to use them. Too much traffic and roads are always well lit, except for our neighborhood. I turn on my parking lights when I pull in the drive, so as not to disturb the neighbors. I don't turn the headlights on till I'm facing down the street for the same reason. When it's that dark, the normal headlights are bright enough. I see no reason to send a beacon on out to the next city!
