Is it uncommon to never use your brights while driving ?

I almost never do..

Maybe on the rare occasion I'm driving out in the country and I see one of those deer signs, I might flip them on
but otherwise, never.

Are you really supposed to use them ?

I don't because I pretty much forget about them, and I also dont
want to forget to turn them off and blind an oncoming car..]

i rarely use them.

and don't turn your brights on in the fog, you can blind yourself.

I use mine fairly frequently. When I'm not at school, I work as a driver for Papa John's and many of the housing developments are poorly lit, so I use my brights a lot to help locate street addresses on the mailboxes or painted on the ground. Other than that, no, I don't use them a lot. Mainly, if it's an unfamiliar area, I'll use them. I know the area around my house well enough that I don't need them, even though my neighborhood is one of those very poorly lit ones.

As far as fog, I never use my brights in the fog. I've got fog lamps and I use those.

I use them all the time. Probably 75% of my night driving at home is with the brights on. But I live in a rural area where there aren't a lot of other people and where there are deer all over the place. On those country back roads it's just stupid not to use the high-beams.

When I'm at school in the city I really don't use them much. Too many other people on the road.

You can be in the middle of nowhere, on the worst road in the state, put your brights on and every car in the state will all of a sudden be there.

On a related note, you should always carry a pack of cards with you when you are in the desert or wilderness. That way if you get lost, you can start playing Solitaire. Then someone will show up and look over your shoulder to tell you what plays you missed. 😉

Everyone around here always do. If you've ever been here, you'd understand why. Woods, windy roads, deer galore.

I live in a place where there arent other cars and no street lights. At least not when im comming back from my night class. So ill throw them on then.

Uncommon. You people shouldn't be driving.

<g> J/K, different thread. My dad used to bug me all the time to turn my brights on when I was learning to drive at night, still don't switch as soon as most people.

Every night I use my brights along with my 200,000 candle-power offroad lights. It's the only way to go when it's pitch black out 🙂

I use them at night when there is not any oncoming traffic or near by cars in front of me. I like the extra illumination.

Only if I'm out in the country during night, and there are no oncoming cars, which doesn't happen much.

About the only time that happens is driving out to my aunt and uncle's house, and that happens only a handful of times a year.

most of the time I don't use any lights. I flip on the night vision. 😎 But when I do use lights it's usually high beams. also, there are lights out on the market that supposedly you can use on high beam all the time, not having to switch between high and low. Anyone have any experience with these?

Where I've lived for about the last 20 years I always use my brights (rural area). Its pretty much required because of the deer who like to graze in the middle of the road, and right around sharp corners... But I live in a city now and when all lights brights are not needed. Lights actually arnt even needed to see.. but of course I use them.

Nope...never used them in any car I have ever had. My current vehicle has some upgraded fog lights that light the road up plenty without the brights. 🙂

True dat

I always use them whenever I'm driving down a road at night that doesn't have street lights, and there are no cars in front, or coming at me. I don't see the point in not using them, they increase your visibility, and make you more visible to any cars that may be coming at you (they can see the light from round the corner, and they know you're there). Not using them is just stupid, IMO

Confused

I used to live out in the country and would use brights every night leaving work.
Since I moved I have not used my brights at all...
So I guesss it is not uncommon...

You should only use your Highbeams in a poor lit area or when there is no incoming traffic with-in 100 ft. Do not Use them in the City cause you will piss off people in front of you. My friend and I almost toss a Hard glass Air Freshener at the highbeaming driver behind us that's been following use for over 5 mintues. The plan was to open the moonroof and toss it out. But since we were on the freeway and our exit was comming up we decided not to.. if it was on the streets,, then the Highbeamer would have a broken front window. 🙂

Stoopid drivers these days.

Yeah - I only use the brights on country roads with little or no light. And I turn them off as soon as I see a car coming close. They are very distracting to oncoming traffic.
