Think of all the water we waste washing things individually (most recycling programs want clean items) before it goes into the recycling bin. They also won't take recyclables with perfectly "natural" foodstuff stuck to it... think of all the pizza boxes that could be recycled.

I remember the days of only paper bags at Kroger's..... it was a pain in the rear to unload the car because it was so many more trips.


they require clean stuff because its a huge health hazzard not to mention all the vermin it would attract.

You know what though ? I use those grocery plastic bags as garbage bags for my regular trash. So I don't think I'm "wasting" anything... I would be buying actual garbage bags which is a waste of money IMO. The two of us in this house don't produce enough trash for a day to warrant those huge trash bags. Plastic bags from groceries are perfect.
