I have to respectfully disagree. I think women still get the short end of the stick many, many times more than men. In professional situations, where the biggest strides have been made in gender equality, yes, sometimes there is a double standard. But in domestic and family situations, women have far less 'leverage' than men. Not to mention that in some other countries, women basically have no rights. Don't believe the hype - even though spousal abuse occurs both ways, women are far more likely to be attacked by their husbands. Wives attack their husbands primarily in self-defense.
Why do women earn less than men? Well, let's see, after entering the workforce at the same time, in the same job, men and women earn roughly equally the same. After they get married and have children, who quits his/her job to stay home with the children? Later on, when she wants to re-enter the workforce, she's already behind her male counterpart in finding a new job, in getting tenured/seniority, etc.
This guy's 'wounded puppy victim' plea is a cop-out. If he's so vulnerable to being emotionally and physically attacked by women, maybe he should take a look at himself. From a purely Freudian standpoint (not that I completely subscribe to this), he may have had some issues with his mother.
