A lot of companies don't want to upgrade because they don't want to retrain the people that aren't very tech savy or computer literate. At my job when they upgraded some laptops to Windows 7 after replacing them due to the lease on the old hardware running out, a lot of people had a fit because it was new and scared them.

Some companies won't switch because some software they depend on runs on an older OS and they can't replace it for one reason or another.

For anything related to the medical industry, XP is insanely advanced.

FWIW most hospitals and doctors offices recently upgraded to Windows 9X. I was surprised to notice last time we were at LIJ Northshore for example that all the computers were running Windows 98 rather than 95 or earlier. Many places are still running 3.1.

The odd man out I would say is the MTA vending machines and displays, which when they crash you can see are all running Windows NT (some 3.51 some 4.0).

I find that extremely hard to believe.

NEVER! have I got any malware from XP or any other OS for that matter. It's user related!

I am typing this message from my work computer running Windows Xp pro SP2. Yes, I said SP2.

It is most certainly user related. I have had malware issues but that was my fault surfing websites that was not work related. If my computer was ONLY being used for work then I probably would of had serious issues.

All the same, no serious issues affected my work computer since using Windows Xp pro over 10 years or so.

Have a another computer with Windows 7 that I am thinking to upgrade the work computer to.

I have used the same Windows XP Pro since it was released but have had to upgrade one of the computers from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 because wanted to play new games on it with dx11.

How so? I've had Windows 7 on four laptops, and for me, I don't think there are many things worse (from a usability standpoint) in XP. I'd say they both have an equal share of strengths and annoyances so I'd probably give them a tie in the end, or say that XP might have a slight edge over Windows 7 overall if I add up all the little things.

I've been using Vista, and now 7, for so long that Windows XP throws me off because it doesn't behave like I expect it to.
