Well, let me tell you of the story of a man named Aquaman
on a tragic and fateful day.
He went downstairs to his office, turned on the Canoscan six-seven-zero-U,
and started to scan away.

Chorus:
Well, did he ever return? No, he never returned and
his fate is still unknown.
(Poor ole Aquaman)
He may scan forever 'neath the streets of Vancouver.
He's the man who never returned.

Aquaman tossed the last mag, heaved a sigh of relief
and tallied six-eight-three slash six-eight-three.
But when looked round once again, he saw another stack of mags.
His collection somehow totaled seven-oh-three.

Chorus:
Well, did he ever return? No, he never returned and
his fate is still unknown.
(Poor ole Aquaman)
He may scan forever 'neath the streets of Vancouver.
He's the man who never returned.

Now, all night long Aquaman scans these a-quar-i-um mags,
occasionally posting in A-T-O-T.
His thread attracts many people who think he will never be done.
Still he laughs and says "just you wait and see!"

Chorus:
Well, did he ever return? No, he never returned and
his fate is still unknown.
(Poor ole Aquaman)
He may scan forever 'neath the streets of Vancouver.
He's the man who never returned.

Aquaman scans away, down in his private home office,
always dreaming of finishing one day,
but everytime he comes close, he receives another stack of mags,
forcing him to scan and stay.
(Chorus)

Chorus:
Well, did he ever return? No, he never returned and
his fate is still unknown.
(Poor ole Aquaman)
He may scan forever 'neath the streets of Vancouver.
He's the man who never returned.

He's the man who never returned.
He's the man who never returned.

I have collected over 15 years of Aquarium magazines but they are taking a lot of room up in my den. I don't have the heart to just throw them away (I will probably give them to a local library) but I am still in the hobby and I still enjoy reading them and using them as a resource.

Do you think it's crazy to scan 600+ mags? I won't be scanning every page but all pages with articles on them so for example a 70 page mag will have 45-50 pages that have articles or pictures on them.

I guess I will find out how tough my Canon Scanner is 🙂

To update:

633/637 (99.37%) Done 🙂

4 mags to go

52000+ scans

21gb of scans

314 lbs (144kg)weight

No Torrents 😛

Cheers,
Aquaman 😀

Heh,,,can you say hard drive crash? 😉

It only took you, what, three years? That's quite a long time.
I hope you are frequently reading the archived magazines because that's a lot of work.

I'm going to bet that if you spent half the amount of time on the internet, you would have as much info as in thoes magazines.

All hail the supreme leader pack rat!

I did it so that I would not be a pack rat.......... that collection is 9 bank boxes big (I gave away 7 boxes already). .

I do refer to them but its hard because I have not index all of them yet....... another big project........ "Is it crazy to index 800+ Aquarium Magazines?" 😀

I guess I am an electronic pack rat but now my closet has a heck of a lot more room 😉

Cheers,
Aquaman

Heeh, but with 1TB drives getting pretty cheap, shouldn't be too bad! What kind of scanner did you use? Certainly not a cheap one -- I had an inexpensive scanner which up and quit on my after maybe 12 months of mild use.
