Is it still crazy to scan 1000 magazines?

My brother-in-law is setting up his fish room. He's going to have 3 walls line with two rows of aquariums plus another freestanding row down the middle. He's planning on breeding fish and all that fun stuff. He used to run an aquarium business so he definitely knows what he's doing.

Should be cool when it's done but he was guessing it'd be a year...

I still like my idea of cutting/sawing off the bindings of the magazines and then just using a double sided color scanner. Would make this a piece of cake. Too bad I don't have any magazines to scan in myself.
 
well duh; to put it lightly. but are going to then burn to dual layer dvd's? just asking, how much does the average magazine pdf file weigh? u didn't give exact sizes, so i was just wondering. also, what settings did u use to scan them?
