Wow, you're so close. What are you gonna do when you finish? I think I remember you saying they still print the mag but once you're done archiving all of them all you'll need to do is scan one per month. Bet that'll be hard. It seems like it hasn't been that long since you started but I think this thread, of all of them, is the best testament to how much of my time I have spent at ATOT.

When I am finished I will try to sell some of the magazines & if no one wants to buy them..... I will try to give them away to another hobbyist (hopefully a younger person). and some (the ones I had to cut the bindings off........ I will recycle).

Cheers.

I'm not reading the whole thread, did you OCR at all for 'searching' purposes?

I should have said this 700 mags ago but i'm sure you could have improvised some sort of device that did a whole mag for you at once! Scanning individual pages is just crazy!

Nope......... that would take to long to run the ocr software then edit all of the scans. I just made jpegs and I am going to put them in PDF format.

I still dont get the damn point of keeping 700 magazines. But whatever. :p

Are you somehow tagging the files so that they are searchable by content?

Nothing nice............ I actually don't have any set up for the last 3 years because I travel a lot when I am not working at home. I used to have over 100 tanks set up (from 5 gallons to 200 gallons) but that was when I was in school still. I am planing a 2 huge tanks (1000 gallons each, one salt water and one freshwater). but that will be well into the future when I get a bigger house.

Yeah......... some TFH but I also have AFM, FAMA, AF, MFM, PFK & TFK.

Unfortunately TFH has become harder to scan since they now have a wider page format.

Wow! You must be going back 30 years or so!

I guess since you're the OP it's ok to go off subject a tad...

What types of fish do you have and like the best?

Mine are mainly SA/CA cichlids. I'm very much into the aggro species and I've kept most except umbi's and dovii's. Some day I'll own a tank big enough though. :)

I've also have had quite a few Pygocentrus nattereri and a couple Serrasalmus Rhombeus over the years. I like the look of the rhoms but having only one in a tank gets old, unlike the pygo species where you can have a shoal of them.

Albeit, I have to admit, my alltime fav fish ever is a minnow...Epalzeorhynchus bicolor. I don't know why but I love these guys. I'd have a tank full of them if they wouldn't be so anti-conspecific!

I like (and have) 13 different sp. of Apistogramma (Dwarf Cichlids) and I am working with Endler's livebreeders at the moment.

I also am dabbling with breeding the Maroon Clownfish.

Never tried marine fish. Too scared. :D

The apisto's are nice fish but never had any Endlers. Are you trying to bred the Endlers towards anything or just enjoy the live breeding process?

I've never kept dwarf fish and wonder what size tank is the minimum for them? I would imagine something as small as a 10 would be ok for a male and a couple females?

I have a 10 gallon and was thinking of putting 1 male dwarf puffer with 2 females but want to know all options jic I go another route.

I never had a dwarf puffer.

I keep my dwarf cichlids in 20 gallon tanks but if I had the space I would use 40 gallon breeder tanks.
