Is it rude to ask your boss

If you can sit in another location because the person next to you eats very loud during lunch? It's the sound of constant tongue snapping from the roof of his mouth to loud chewing.

Wouldn't you be annoyed if you had to hear this daily?

I would complain to HR, and then they would say "Eat lunch in the crapeteria or go out, do not eat lunch in your cubes"

I did bring it up to my boss and the overall response she gave back felt emotional and awkward. She will "think" about it.

Punch your coworker on the face each time he does it. Don't be a scaredy cat.

I can imagine that being super annoying. I don't get people who are constantly eating. How do they not get full after a while? It's not always fat people either.

I would ask if there is a spot available, it might also send a message to the coworker.

Are you in kindergarten? You have to ask permission to sit in another location for this flippant reason? Are you not allowed to walk away and eat the lunch that mommy made you somewhere else?

You are a superior troll candidate ... or just an inane poster.

I would mimic their actions/loud noises they make so they can hear it or even record it and play it back louder. ;)

Deal with it, you can never have perfect co-workers. Hopefully you're not the only person who notices this behavior.

Lunch times are different for everyone. Not everyone has the same schedule also, I am working while he eats.

Yes it's true, but I just don't know how people do it. I've tried but I get full and have to stop. I'm not really a big eater though so maybe that's why. I sometimes only have 1 meal during the day, which is a habit I'm trying to break as it's probably not healthy.

Hey I have it worse. Not only is my cube neighbor a loud eater, she actually does a lot of lunch prep in her cube so there's lots of water pouring/cup/pot banging in the cube. Drives me nuts. It's like a mini-kitchen in there.

Ask your boss to buy you QuietComfort, annoying/noisy neighbour are not uncommon, there is no guarantee that the next place you move will not have some other problem.

When did OP say they were "constantly" eating? Unless you were just going off on a tangent there. Honestly if it was constant then I would do something about it, but if just at lunch then deal with it, I eat lunch at my desk all the time.

OP, you work in a cube.
You're already in purgatory.
Suffer in silence.

I would never go and burden my boss with some lame ass request like that. Of all the crap a manager has to deal with, an employee wishing to move because their cube mate's eating habits "annoy" them should not be among it.

that kind of shit irritates the shit out of me.

the WORST though is people chewing gum with their mouth open, since it lasts much longer than someone eating a meal.

That was her nice way of saying no... Now where I work people can move for whatever reason. The person I had an office with moved to a different one because he wanted a window. Which means odds are I will end up with a new person next week. But until then I have an office to myself.

I just assumed he meant it but yeah mostly going on a tangent, because I've seen it myself. Never really been bothered more than amazed they're not <9000 pounds. :p
