I'm sure it could be annoying as hell, but I wouldn't want to bring up such a petty matter to a boss. This would be something that I would expect your boss would want you to be able to solve amicably on your own. At the very least, I would just request the move for vaguer reasons (quieter zone, draught from the A/C in you current place, etc.).
The environment here isn't very uptight or corporate like. It's ran like a small to medium sized business. If the setting here was different, I may have treated the matter that way.

Sounds like you are the real problem here and not your co-worker. I'm guessing there is more to it than just loud eating.

If you bring this up to your boss you will just sound like a huge whiner. If you have your heart set on moving find a better reason.

Why am I the problem? I chew with my mouth closed.

There's no hidden agenda or other reason then the fact that it sounds like someone giving a sloppy blowjob in the background when he eats his food. It's annoying and disgusting learn some table manners.

Sounds like you have difficulty co-existing due to what most would deem a minor annoyance. Have you ever thought of what you do that probably annoys the shit out of your co-workers?

If you can sit in another location because the person next to you eats very loud during lunch? It's the sound of constant tongue snapping from the roof of his mouth to loud chewing.

Wouldn't you be annoyed if you had to hear this daily?

How long until your nuts finally drop and you can just walk over and tell the bitch to eat properly or go to their car and do it?

I have the same problem with a coworker. Unfortunately, our office is so small, there's no where else I can go.

He chews gum all day. It's really affecting my performance.

Headphones? I would but how does it look to your boss if you have headphones on at work?

make light of the situation, sort of indirectly confront them about it... when the person is eating and you can hear them wait until its really quiet and you hear it really easily and peek over the cubical and say "Whatcha eating over there, from the sounds of it it must be really good....." they'll get the hint and perhaps will eat more quietly, or just suck it up and ignore it as Ill have to agree with some other posters, such nonsense does not merit utilizing chain of command escalation to remedy... If this is a concern of yours in the workplace you clearly do not have enough work to do that you're spending your efforts fixated on the co-workers eating..

I have no problem moving someone to another cube if he/she requests. However, keep in mind two things:
1) the rest of the team will wonder, and maybe ask, why that person moved. The people that previously were near that person may feel hurt.
2) you don't want to become 'the whiner'. That's a bad place to be with any manager.

QFT, just ask to move your cube. Focus on it being more productive and not on the office drama.

Then in a random parking lot settle the matter with this co-worker.

of all the things to complain about this is the one you choose?

This. You come off looking pretty catty if you're going to do it. But how professional is the office you work in? It's not the type of environment where you can just "give him the business" like the head around the cube chewing thing someone suggested? Man, that would have been done so long ago in my office. Bunch of ball busters we are.

Unless you are some low level data entry intern that won't be coming back, why would you wear a headphone if your boss is there too?

My boss doesn't sit near me and regardless, he doesn't mind if we wear headphones. As long as we're not oblivious to our phones or if someone walks into our cubes, we're good.

This is one of those scenarios where it's nice that we all have to eat in the cafeteria when it's time for break.
