Thats sort of what I was thinking. However, royal reserve does taste pretty bad, so I think I may have to try it out....for science. Will report back when finished.
 
I gave this a shot - worked pretty well actually.

I basically was watching football and did another pass through the filter during the commercial breaks. I went for 6x first, then went all the way to 20x the following day. Crown Czar ($8.25 / 750 mL) was at least as good as the Skyy but wasn't as smooth as the VOX I used as a comparison (with the 6x). The unfiltered tasted like garbage. After I finished my project I ran some water through the filter and then put it in a sandwich baggie... you want to keep it sealed, sterile, and not let it get bone dry again. I used the filter the following week without problem.

The other Chemistry grad students out here are very interested in a pitcher party.

20x filtered? Holy sh!t that's dedicated.

Main concern is, does alcohol evaporate while filtering, and at what rate. I did it in the freezer to reduce the rate of evaporation.
