So, I have been looking for a means to block myspace for sh!ts and giggles...but ever since I have done it my little brother (14)is PMSing saying unblock it, unblock it.. I just say no.

My little sister (16) got out of the house (finally, instead of staying up til 3-4am on myspace) and now that she finaly knows it was me that blocked it (every time she asked I gave her bs excuses like, no idea it works for me...because I would show her...secret is I blocked it to her and my brothers MAC address).

I don't use myspace, I never ever go on it, I have no reason to. I have much better things to do, neffing on ATOT while at work, or doing homework for class.

Now my sister is threatening to take some of my cr@p (very juvenile I say), but I wont. I am 20, living at home because I figured it would be cheaper to go to the community college near by instead of paying up the ass for a University...right now. I am already accepted to the U of M - Twin Cities, but I don't want to go just yet, because it is so much more. Either way she pulled the " you should be out of the house, you are 20!", but I am living here to save up money for when I do move out when I go to the U.

Am I in the right to block myspace? I don't want them wasting there d@mn lives on it, and getting molested by some pedophiles.

My mom thinks I am playing god, but then again she is psycho... whole other story that ATOT doesn't need to hear.

BTW I LOVE DD-WRT FIRMWARE :)

EDIT : added swear word filter for shortylickens...
EDIT: I added a simple poll for some feedback :).

you sound about 12... im suprised you arent on myspace

2. You got picked on a lot in school. I feel bad for you.
3. Don't get bitter that your brother and sister are at least 15x cooler than you were in high school.
4. Make toast.

1. I don't, it should be my parents who do.
2. Actually, I didn't....maybe it was you?
3. oh, Ill try not too.
4. I dont want to...thanks though.

Reminds me of when I was a dick preteen and blocked the music video channel on our TV so my sister couldn't watch it. I was a dick then, and you're being a dick now.

why do the votes say otherwise?

maybe that percentage will change, but the posts generally are pretty negative around here.

Because most of ATOT are dicks. Not to mention they'd vote for anything anti-MySpace (normally, myself included).

Being a dick will get you places in life.

But being a dick will get you sh!t on by assholes. And if you're a pussy, you're always fvcked.

14 and 16 isn't that young. They are (hopefully) old enough to understand the whole 'pedophile' angle. If they are not, it is your job to teach them and warn them.

Blocking off something totally is just wrong. They will hate you, resent you and lose respect for you. If you really want to play the big brother role, use your better wisdom to knock better sense into them - don't go medieval on their asses.

(I'm 21 and don't use Myspace)

see sig. have you discussed this with your parents? you don't pay for the net and you really don't have a right to do this. now don't take this the wrong way, i hate MySpace a lot, but your don't have the right to deny your siblings access to MySpace unless your parents agree.

but if the parents pay for the internet and your bro and sis dont see you as a parental figure then you are just being a PITA loser. I think you may be jealous that they socialize and maybe you don't?

as pointed out before, socializing is essential at their ages, don't mess with that even if you think myspace sucks.

point well taken.

maybe I should unblock it on this reason alone.

If you come home and a bunch of your crap lay broken in peices on the floor, stand in front of a mirror and see who's to blame.

Also didn't you block it and then deny it?
This alone displays immaturity and removes and possible rightyou had to decide for them what they are mature enough to do.

Oh and I thought I should mention I voted to ban myspace.

I hate that retarded site. So If I was you I'd talk to my parents about it and explain to them why you did it and see if they would support your decision. You can't lead your brothers and sisters lives for them.

I will just unblock it to save ME the drama and they can deal with it themselves.

I told them about the pedophiles stuff and I told my parents about kids being abducted in the paper.

here is a plan
unblock it on all computers
wait a few days, and re block it on every computer, even yours - and tell them that you originally blocked it on theirs only, and you undid it, and there must be something wrong with the internetz
if you don't use it at all - it will look credible when they're like "show me on your computer" - so show them dns error page and voila - you're credible
tell them to call isp

Actually even better, redirect the myspace traffic to someplace else. Not blocked, just silly.

I don't think it's something you should do, just my two cents.

I'm sure you have something that is purely recreational/social that has value to you but someone in an authority position may not approve of, and I'm sure you wouldn't like it if it was taken from you.

your family sounds pretty messed up..maybe they need myspace as an outlet for their frustrations...

the same frustrations they will now keep bottled up until they eventually go bananas and kill you in your sleep and chop you up into tiny pieces.....

but hey good luck with that.....

i guess i don't get it?

Don't you know that everyone on ATOT moved out when they were 16, work full time jobs, and take 20 credits a semester in college?

.. it's a huge hangout for reprobates. those kids are too young to be using the net unsupervised. Shouldn't have puters in their bedrooms.
