Is it okay for me to block myspace.com?

it's bs if you blocked it just because you don't want them on myspace... it's not bs if you blocked it because their myspacing is killing your bandwidth for gaming or downloads.

maybe you can let them myspace up until a certain time? block their mac addresses after 8pm or something.

If you are paying for the internet and all hardware used to access the internet then you can block whatever you want

So personal inconvenience trumps familial responsibility?

He's the older brother, he's living in the family, he thinks that myspace is having a negative impact on his siblings. Block that sh!t and be done with it. I'd have done the same thing to my teen in-laws had myspace been around back then.

From the OP you don't say that you own the router or internet connection. I therefore assume that you don't.

No, you shouldn't be blocking access to a domain that you don't like.

Agreed  Myspace is a waste.

The voting is skewed because of the ATOT hatred of anything Myspace... not because people think its ok for you to block *any* site that *you* dont like.

Who the fvck do you think you are to say what websites they can and cannot visit? You're their 20 year old brother, not their parents. You can't even legally drink alcohol for christs sake. What if your (hypothetical) 23 your old brother blocked Anandtech for you?

Edit: BTW, I don't have a myspace account.

That is mean. What if someone prevented you from reaching ATOT?

Who are you to judge what websites your siblings will visit?

I would be very angry if someone arbitrarily prevented me from visiting a website I enjoyed visiting.

updated original post with an update.

LOL, I just blocked myspace on my router and my GF had a sh!tfit.

I would never do that to my GF...why because we don't use it. we vowed to get off of it. -- as should you all!

yet she still uses facebook...bah girls and there superiority.

block that pos website you wannabe godlike douchey right-invading sob! your doing the right thing by limiting their freedom, especially if they are listing their effing ages as 18-19, or even in that 40-100 year old range that seems popular for little kids in NJ. other than you being some a real facist, and i salute you for it.. idk, if they dont like it they can go to the library and cruise myspace then on some one else's bandwidth, you cant stop them then. your just making it harder. they can always learn how to use proxies then to get to myspace at home under the 3rd reich you established. i personally like the idea, it teaches them how to think up stuff, and be creative.
