Congratulations, you've decreased your sister's and brother's chances of getting laid down to your level.

I deleted my myspace account about a month ago.

Pointless. I'll stick to facebook and my normal life of interaction with people.

You're a dick. MySpace is merely a phase they are going through. It will end by itself. No need for you to make their lives miserable for no reason.

You're calling your siblings juvenile while acting like a child yourself.

Are you in the right? No. You're trying to play god in a world where you are completely insignificant.

Shouldn't this be, I don't know, your parents' decision and not yours?

my parents don't play the 'real' parental role, my dad is often not home until 8-10pm. and my mom is a nut case...been to the psych ward a few times(suicide, driving on the wrong side of the road , stealing from target, hanging out with my sisters friends without her, buying cigarettes for minors, and some other stupid crap I never even do)...like I said another story.

Playing the parental role would be properly educating them about the dangers of MySpace and other social networks, and the implications of releasing private information on the internet.

Just admit that you get off on controlling others and be done with it.

I thought it was hilarious at first, but now the fact they are getting pissed makes me realize that they think there is only one website on the internet to go on. My sister hasnt touched the computer since I blocked it. Isn't it not interesting that she is totally off it and getting some sleep, making it to school on time? It reminds me when my parents tried to quit smoking, how bitchy they got...I am just trying to unhook them from myspace.

Unblock it - what right do you have to do that? At their ages social networking plays a big part in their lives. As already pointed out, you are a douche

Social networking is getting off your butt and meeting people in REAL LIFE. Amazingly enough there was a time that the internet didn't exist and people *gasp* communicated through spoken word.

When I was a kid we actually went outside and played baseball and football. we rode bikes and played war. During the summer we would go to a place called The Park and play in the creek. Kids today are too lazy to even go out and make friends, they just sit on their collective asses and make "internet" friends.

they can go outside, like my brother is RIGHT NOW! (He usually rushes home to be on the computer to myspace it up).

Hehe... unblock it then modify the hosts file on their computers to direct myspace to something else. Like a pedo warning web site.

I thought I would do that, but its not ass effective. there are millions of http:\\XXX.myspace.com forms of the site they can get to. there is actually a website that lists all 30+ subdomains.

Fixed.

I see this going downhill fast.

We were already at the bottom when we started. Hard to go downhill if you aren't at the top.

QFT, but its a phase I can end much quicker for them.
the fact that it is making them miserable is kind of sad to me...like I said, its like taking a coke addict off coke for the first time.

Maybe I will block it from 10pm to 9am so they at least go to school.

just wait till they get their revenge on you while you sleep
sicne you took away their only nocturnal activity, they'll find some other things to do, like loading a bunch of spiders into your body orifices

what more do you want? my router blocks it on their PC's only. It was less then 30 seconds for me to block it. and now my router runs more effective without that myspace trash running through it :0

sorry, it was a mistype...firefox doesn't catch it all.

This is the 21st century brotherly love. Instead of helping with choirs and homework, you blocked access to myspace! You and Ctrain should hang out.

So you leave your brother and sister uneducated about the dangers of social communities on the internet and continute to block the page.

So now what happens? They go on it at their friends house or at the library, and arrange a meeting with a hot "16 year old" boy or girl, and get abducted. Possibly beaten, raped, and/or killed. But hey! At least you blocked MySpace, right Mr. Mom

You're lucky your siblings aren't a bit more intelligent, because I can guarantee when I was their age and if a sibling pulled something like this with me, your computer would've suddenly stopped working after a capacitor would've been partially broken off, but looking functional. That's also making the rather large leap that I wouldn't have had the knowledge to circumvent the MAC filter.

Hell, they don't even have to be that intelligent to do this. They should take your router and throw it in the trash.

So that they have no internet at all?

Due to his over zelous controling personality he probally won't ever get a BF, isn't that enough revenge?
