<< I hate Harley's with a vengence. Those pieces of crap are a headache. The comparison to "Type R" riceboys is a good one. Both are driven by losers desperate for attention.

"chrome might not get ya home but itll probably get ya laid"

Biker skanks with VD perhaps, but I don't think real women would care much for wannabe macho men trying to attract attention to themselves. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but that would reflect on the women...the guys are still pathetic :p
>>

This seems excessively harsh. And in all fairness, Harleys did help Malcolm Forbes get a lot of (hairy) tail in his old age!

EngineNr9, be quiet little boy. You haven't even gotten away from your Mama's hind tit, who the fsck are you to lable those who ride Harleys losers? You talk like you are some Patriotic American. Well what have you done besides bleed your festering gob? Have you ridden across country to help promote the rights of American Veterans of Foriegn Wars and the right of MIA's and POW's? No, you are just a typical GenXer whose main Contribution to America is whining like a little bitch who was sent to bed without dinner. I seriously doubt that you would walk up to a Biker wearing Colors and spew the crap you just posted. That would take balls and I can tell that yours haven't dropped yet

Well, they sound completely different. Have you never heard them? I for one find the ricer Civic booming exhaust mildly irritating, but the Harley farting BLATTTTT exhaust note makes me feel as though my head is about to split open.

<< harleys are retarded, and so are the obsessed 40 year old losers who ride them. it's a vehicle, not a f*cking lifestyle. and think about it, they obsess over hogs, their clothes, and everything. all for a COMPANY. Does here live the AMD lifestyle?? Do you wear all AMD clothing?? I think not. >>

Id love to see all you pansy-ass-nancy-boy-momma huggin' pukes say that to anybody rides a REAL bike. WTH!? I know I post some idiotic stuff, but, that's a moronic statement and shows you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

this question was in reference to this one

<< i don't understand why cops give import drivers a hard time for their exhaust, but i've never heard of a harley owner getting crap for their sh!t, even though it's much louder >>

<< AMEN! I hate that discrimination, Harley exhausts are so goddam loud, but imports get pulled over >>

That's the Red we know.

And for the fact, around here, the guys riding honda CBR's make a lot more noise than Harley riders. Even when the Harley guys are acclerating from a light then dont particularily make much noise, where as the honda guys, they let it rip.
Not that it's a bad thing for either one.
Noise is good :D

Let's see Red, I'm old enough to drive, and it's unnerving as fsck to have those pieces of sh!t fart by me 100x louder than anything on the road.

I seriously doubt that you would walk up to a Biker wearing Colors and spew the crap you just posted. That would take balls and I can tell that yours haven't dropped yet

They can go back in time and kill my great great grandfather so that I'm never born, and they will still be as stupid and annoying as riceboys. Not only that, but dangerous, the noise those things give off is damn well a hazard.

I don't understand why they can't muffle them. Until they do, buying a Harley is strictly a matter of "hey look at me, I'm bad to the bone".

I love motorcycles and have an appreciation for American craftsmenship.

Needless to say, I like Harley Davidsons.

But I don't care for the open headers. They're brain rattling to drive and annoying to drive next to.

During Bike Week in Daytona where this group of "lifestylers", as some of you put it, it's more acceptable and actually more fun that you may ever care to believe to have parades of growling, open header Harleys roaring down the street. But when you're at a Mobil pumping gas in the old Grocery Getter and a hog fires up a can of "blap blap blap blap" three feet away without warning, it's not too pleasing.

BTW: My dream bike is a bright blue Buell. ;)

But not with open headers.

The answer is self-evident. It's because one is a Harley and the other is, well, crap.

EngineNr9..two words...Too Bad! It's as a part of America as apple pie and the 4th of July.

The Cops don't bother open pipes because a greater percentage of them than the public have got open pipes on their bikes.

Flash Back....The Year is 1975....Your Hero, Tominator [Hey! That's me!] is tooling down the boulevard on his 1954 Harley Servicar [That's a three-wheeled Harley for those that are wonderin']...complete with Ford Mags and G60X15 bias ply Mickey Thompsons [Wide MFing tires!]....straitpipes of course.....Sounds of Sireen and red and blue alternating lights in Tominator's rearview......I pull over....Cop wants license and registration.....Btw, he asks, is that an old Police Bike?...Sure is I say....although it was a taxi recovery bike that a mechanic used to go out and get brokendown taxis. The Harleyhad a large box over the rear axle where the mechanic carried his tools and after a reapir drove the taxi back with said Servicar in tow via the attached tow bar, but hey, what does the Cop know?....Them pipes are kinda loud, but you can go...as he admires the leather saddle complete with origional leather fringe and the springer frontend....

Used to freak folks out when I put the transmissin in reverse to back out of a parking spot....shifter on the tank and floorboards with the clutch on the left side operated by the foot....wish I had it back....

*sniff*... I'm starting to miss my ol' chain driven 1977 XLCR. :( The new bikes suck ass with their Kevlar belt drive and that "wannabe old school" styling. :|

....My XLCR didn't have open headers BTW. ;)

I didn't think I did anything offensive on the Amdzone forums, other than telling the people who were insisting on dishing out $150+ for a K6-3+ 550 when they could get a K6-3+ 450 for $49, that they were stupid. I guess you were one of them?

I've got a bright yellow Buell. 2000 Buell Cyclone M2. I love it. No open exhaust, but it has a sweet sounding Vance and Hines SSR2 on it, sounds great. Definetly a head turning bike, people just aren't used to an American made Sport Bike.

Sweet bike. I must admit I still have a weakness for Ducatis, though . . .

I own a Harley, and I personally don't give a sh*t what anybody else thinks. There is nothing like cruising around on a HOG on a warm summer night.....:) by the way, I don't have open headers, just some screamin eagles.......

PS the chick comment is right on the mark.....harley's are babe magnets....;)

the noise that annoys me is the one that comes from those stupid old vw beetles.. man..they make so much noise you think they're going 100mph but then you look and they're trying to accelerate to 10mph or something.. pathetic.

AHEM, well it seems I have been taken wrong. I have no issues whatsoever with Harleys themselves, to everyone that has/wants one more power to you. I might even buy one myself someday. And I would never support any kind of action that placed limits on what a person can or cannot drive if he or she chooses to do so.

I have no issues with Harleys that have a relatively mellow exhaust note, as I have no issues with people who choose to put nice sounding turbo mufflers (I happen to be biased to the sound of FlowMasters myself) on a nice sounding V8.

What I have issues with are the completely open pipes, I know those dont come OEM on a Harley. I am not talking about nicely tuned headers, I am talking about a completely open straight piece of chrome plated steel to which the only obstruction to noise a slight curve in the pipe.

People who tool around cruising are one thing, placing their shift points at relatively low-medium RPMs. Morons who consider every single traffic light as their personal proving ground for their ego as they probe the redline through the first 4 gears as they leave a trail of pounding eardrums and shattered nerves in their wake, however are a different story.
