Is it just me or...

I keep finding it HARDER and HARDER to find any GOOD music that come out in the past few years I keep rolling back to the 90's and start of 00's. Anyone else seem to have this problem? I don't know what it is it just seems every new band or artists uses the same crap over and over and I'm finding older artists just seemed to care more about their albums.

Depends on what you mean by 'Good Music'. Times change and so does music along with it.

Let me rephrase "I find it harder to find music that doesn't sound like X band" Or "I find it hard to find music that doesn't sound like x band with y beats"

or a "Unique" sound as I should have put it, everything sounds the same now wtf.

There is tons of great new music out there but it's unlikely you'll find it on the radio. The Hold Steady, Belle & Sebastian, Midlake, The Decemberists, Band of Horses, and Girl Talk all released, IMO, instant classics last year and there were at least a couple dozen other very good albums from 2006.

Got me. I've been listening to classic rock almost exclusively since I was probably 15. So I haven't heard very much of the last 10 years of music.

Do you at least like Collective Soul?

I've found it easy enough to find good music, you just need to be willing to buy something other than what you hear on the radio. Radio airplay is still largely dominated by the few songs that the record labels want played so that their super act can make them millions while they sit around collecting money. My experience is that the reason it seems that there is no good music is that "good music" is no longer synonymous with popular music/music on the radio (though it can still be this way in a few cases).

Stop listening to mainstream radio or tv for new music. Popular music does not translate to quality music these days.

For those looking for quality new artists, I'd suggest checking out pitchforkmedia.com for lots of good information.

GnR was the last great band. Radiohead is ok, but nothing will ever compare to Zeppelin and Floyd

I'll add Clapton, Hendrix, and Joel to that list.

As far as rock and/or metal are concerned, the 80's were the best. Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Black Sabbath... the 70's were pretty good as well, with Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy.

EDIT: Add Rainbow to the list of great 70's music.

Modern Music of all genres is very generic, nothing sticks out or is revolutionary in sound or performance. Every band/artists sounds the same to me these days.

You have to go back decades to find GOOD music.

New music in the United States sucks for the most part. Most of the new music I listen to comes out Europe, mostly Scandinavian countries.

music is evolving into a series of noises that are designed to make us listen to them over and over. (see techno)

soon music will be like very ****** techno.

Nah. Music in the late 90s was pretty horrible. It's gotten better in the last 5 or so years.
