Is it just me, or is the Transformers plot just plain retarded?

Because if movies were all true to life, plots would go like this:

At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and if she thought about him too much her asthma started acting up again. So chamomile was out of the question.

oh man i LOVE that read.

Obviously fake, but funny nonetheless.

No, it was a stupid ass movie. Why could we not have a decent plot AND amazing special effects.

agreed, the movie sucked

doubly agreed... movie sucked balls

The acting totally kills it
The script seems like it was written by a bunch of highschoolers writing a school skit, and wanted to throw in lots of cool stuff

Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the attack
squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more important things to
think about than the neuroses of an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named
Laurie with whom he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago.

any other plot probably would have driven it too far from the comics/cartoons. weren't they trying to stay true to that storyline?

anyway, i liked it (watched for the first time this weekend, thought it was gonna be stupid so i didn;t give it a chance at the box office.) and it kinda brought me back to when i was a kid watching the cartoons which i liked. i thought the transformers were over done a bit though, there was too much going on in their robot form for my taste, but i like the movie overall.

OP is a completely right.

End of discussion.

fixed that for ya.

When the cartoon series was on, my kids watched it occasionally, and I thought it was tremendously stupid back then. IMO, the concept hasn't gotten any better by bringing it to the big screen...

The concept was never meant to get better. All they were trying to do is put the TV series into a live action movie, and they did a pretty damn good job.

It helps if you grew up watching the series on TV because then it's doesn't seem so stupid.

Hollywood, in general, thinks their audiences don't have a brain when watching their films. Hollywood actually means "murdering books" in latin.

WTF??? because you think every movie has to be like the Ten Commandments or Casbalanca???

what that make you and every other elitest here feel better if no popcorn action flicks were ever made???

thank god that decision isn't up to a bunch of tight elitest prudes who just can't enjoy the simple things in life...

Most retarded thread I've seen in a while. How does any other movie plot seemingly make sense? Who gives a sh!t?

The original TV show was designed to sell toys to 8 year olds. (And worked very well.) What do you want?

So you make a feature length movoe based on the same plot and sell it to adults? I understand that the nerd population of this forum feels enraged due to my comments (OMGZZ he's talking shit about transformers..nwah nwah), but grow the fuck up.

Your brain was supposed to evolve from when you were 8 years old and you should probably realize how ridiculous the whole plot line is. Kinda why Saturday morning cartoons lose their appeal after you turn double-digits. But I am talking to a bunch that still jacks off to asian cartoon movies... c'est la vie.

It?s a movie
almost all moves have ridiculous plot lines
It looks like your brain has not evolved to the point where you can suspend fantasy and reality

There are horrible, braindead movies made all the time that don't even have the excuse of being based on childrens' products.

We watch it for the nostalgia, not for a gripping, thought-provoking script.

You fail at whining on the Internet.

Sorry dude, I've got your back in a lot of stuff, but not this time. Take the movie for what it was worth, a entertaining popcorn popper with hot chicks, robots, and action. Nothing more, nothing less.

You aren't suppose to watch Transformers for its plot. You're suppose to watch it for the cool CGI, giant robots fighting shit, and Megan Fox's tight little body.

Plus you get to see the pretty chick with the accent be surrounded by neckbeards who have Magic cards and Warhammer figurines.

Problem was that the movie had so little action.
