Same here...everything comes in the bamboo steamers, 4 buns to a steamer, for like $2.79 each. We'll go out and it's like 5 adults, and the total cost is about $40-$50 before tip. I'm always full after too.

NBC in alhambra is 1.90 per plate. except for the shrimp cheung fun, i felt shafted when they charged 3.10 per plate. before i used to go to seaworld in rosemead (before they shut down) and cheung fun was among their "A" items and only 1.68 a plate.

No, Phoenix definitely doesn't seem to have any kind of consolidated ethnic neighborhoods unless you consider neighborhoods that are predominantly Mexican or something. I've looked around at Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese restaurants, and their locations are very random and spread out. This is probably why the prices (and sometimes food quality) are not all that spectacular. The dim sum today was decent, but no where near mind blowing like I've found in places like Chicago, NYC, and lots of parts of California.

I'm currently at the C-Fu Gourmet in Tempe, AZ.

Well, when I was in Cleveland we would usually go to Bo Loong for dim sum. Eh... it was decent *shrugs*

if you are really hungry always supplement by ordering a noodle dish.
pure dim sum ordering is what older asian people do since its as much about yacking on endlessly around the table as anything else. so they eat slowly

that isn't so expensive. on the cheaper end in fact for san jose/milpitas, CA. East Lake here is cheap for dim sum and decent quality. Shiu Mai ftw.

sounds like you're getting white people pricing, even though you're chinese, iirc.

4 shrimp dumplings for 4 dollars seems really expensive. 2-3 dollars is about right.

Depends on where you are though.

Dim sum is kind of expensive. In boston, everything cost about $2-$2.50 a plate. Do not forget that they charge you for tea during dim sum also.

btw, chicken feet are awesome!

If you're paying $1 per shrimp dumpling, you better be getting the worlds best dumplings... or you just chose a crappy place

Bo Loong is decent, but lately my family's been going to Tom Seafood Restaurant. The food is great and I believe it's pretty cheap, too. But are you in Phoenix permanently now?

Yeah Bo Loong was decent, but then we went to Boston's China Town and their dim sum is slightly better :)

I don't remember any Tom's Seafood, but then again I don't spend much time in Cleveland because I went to school in Cinci. Now I'm graduated and while Phoenix isn't permanent, it has a chance to be. Whatever happens I'm going to try to stay out west. I really hate the midwest because the hiking stuff sucks compared to the west.
