Is it just me or does Maximum PC have more and more fluff with each issue that comes out?

I got banned from their forum a long time ago a few days before I joined here. The main reason was I got into a heated debate with their editor Josh something about a pair of 2.1 digital speakers. I was looking for a good set and he insisted that 2.1 digitial speakers do not exist. Even after I showed him a set made by creative labs he would not retract his statement. that guy was such a prick. I even told him I didn;t expect an apology from him but just wanted him to retract his statement that digital 2.1 sets do not exist.

It's going the way of PC Mag and becoming less enthusiast, more fluff. The reviews are only half a page now and they barely cover the most interesting parts of hardware (CPU, motherboards, etc). The only one I like reading in that mag is that Halfhill guy.

same here..

I want a magazine that is more in depth.. It should assume that I already know wtf a bios is and that a hard drive is where I put data for storage.

I used to really like PC Gamer... but then I got this newfangledthingamabob called the internet and Gamer started to seem like a waste of money... That was something like 6 or 7 years ago...

I canceled my subscription to MPC several years ago because it got seriously boring... from these comments I think I made the right choice.
CPU magazine is the best PC mag around these days, but I only buy it once in awhile.

I noticed they have a forum for geeks to hang out. I also noticed they have no Off Topic Forum. :(

I gave up on PC gaming magazines for a while.
Was a fan of PC Gamer, but after it went under new management the mag went to the crapper. I guess Maximum PC is taking the same dive... except it was never a good mag to begin with compared to PC Gamer back in the day.

I cancelled my subscription once they started re-hashing the same topics over and over again, and filled their rag up with tons of ads.

Quit reading it years ago when every Article/Review on New Hardware was 2 months behind website Reviews. The worst part was they'd mention some issues that would already have been addressed and fixed so long before I had practically forgotten they ever existed. Just seemed a waste of time and money.

PC Gamer was pretty good, but what pissed me off about that Mag was all the little articles on how to mess around with Online Multiplayer games. I mean, WTF? Games were their Bread and Butter and they were actively trying to ruin them. :|

My wife, of all people, mysteriously got a free subscription. It's a mediocre magazine at best and can be completely read through in 30 minutes at most.

Then again, any magazine that repeatedly uses the term "KICK ASS" is mediocre, IMO.

I used to love MPC, PC Gamer, and PCXL back in the day...but now PCXL ceased to exist after like a year, PCG went down the crapper (I also lost interest in PC games), and MPC seems to have really stupid stuff in it now.

So are there any PC (hardware or gaming) magazines worth buying?

This state of affairs is depressing, as I don't have my desktop set up for use in the crapper.

I like Maximum PC for nice short term reading (for in waiting rooms or during free time at work) but it sucks that basically the last 30-40 percent of the magazine is solid advertisementss every month.

CPU ftw.

Any magazine with Anand (and to a lesser extent Kyle) as a writer has to be worth something, right? I usually buy it off the stand, I suppose I might as well subscribe to it at this point, would probably save a ton of $$. Plus the mods they show are cool sometimes.

Anyone here used to post on their forums before they moved to Delphi? I remember all the regulars leaving and starting dualboot...I still lurk over there occasionally.
