Is it just me or does Maximum PC have more and more fluff with each issue that comes out?

I mean come on, do we really need 2 pages on how to install ram?

What is a computer geek to read?

EDIT: This month we get a great tutorial on how to upgrade various pc components. THANKS! I had no f'ing idea how to replace my aging optical drive you morons!

Christ almighty, I know that somebody on this forum must be somehow connected to the magazine. What is going on over there?!

Yeah really. "Ohhhhhhhh, I was putting the ram in on the wrong side of CPU" says the idiotic reader who still calls his PC a "tandy".

I seriously finished off the whole mag. in 10 minutes while I was taking a crap.

In that case use this resource and prove how much better you are than the MPC staff! 😛

I think PC Mags are stupid. Educated geeks just go to websites for super indepth review on everything.

i have noticed it has gotten pretty slim, and there are a lot of ads towards the back, moreso than before. still, nothing beats a new Maximum PC on the crapper.

Byte used to be good until they killed it. Isn't Anand a writer in CPU? Is that mag any good?

Yep, Byte was great. IMO, CPU is the best available now followed by MPC. The best content is on the web though as you would expect.

I picked up an issue when I was at an airport, I hadn't read the magazine in years.

After reading 3 pages I had to put it down, I haven't been into computers for a few years now, and all the bullshvt was annoying

i think MPC is getting a bid on the thin side.... i have a subscription but don't think i will renew. Also their quarterly "special" issues are 90% reused articles and 10% new content. I've read a few CPU and they are ok but i still enjoy MPC more. I've been reading and enjoying WIRED much more than MPC and CPU recently though. (even though wired is not really a stictly comp geek mag)

Yep... I agree. I'm only going to be renewing CPU, instead of CPU, Maximum PC, and PC Gamer this year.
Tas.

Calling your pc a "tandy" is hip.
