Is it just me or are Republicans just really really bad for the country?

It's just you.... It is Washington politicians in general that are bad for the country. Party affiliation seems to have very little to do with what's bad for the country anymore. The whole Washington political scene is so corrupt and dominated by special interests that the will of the people is usually just an afterthought if it is thought of at all.

You do realize that lobbying has pretty much been a growth industry right along side the Federal Regulatory apparatus? The more control politicians have over private businesses the more the businesses they regulate will seek to bend that regulation to their benefit and to the detriment of their competitors.

Actually I think you have that bass-ackwards. The more businesses seek to have regulation to their benifit the more corrupt the politicians/goverment becomes.

You do know that Lobbying has gotten out of hand right? When they start over stepping the boundaries and paying for congress/house/senate members to vote a certain way or take them all out for a vacation to Hawaii for turning a blind eye.

But, I guess you are ok with all this right?

Can you say biggett?

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Cant say I care for much of the representation in congress. McCain is closer to a liberal than most liberals. People in Alaska call us the Lower 48. Alaska is only part of America in name only. I have lived there and I know. As far as Sarah Palin, she is a great American. At least she doesnt apolagise for being an American like a certain person I know who thinks he is the president.

Reading is fundamental.

He never said he was OK with it. He was just pointing out that increasing regulation motivates people to control the regulation for their benefit.
