After a long week I finally had a chance to kick back for a little while and catch up on a few movies. Smokin Aces was really good, reminded a bit of a Tarantino movie minus the great dialog he writes. But besides that I thought the premise was interesting, Jeremy Piven was good in his role. In fact I thought the entire cast was pretty decent, it was also kind of cool to see one of my favorite rappers (Common) in a movie.
After watching Aces I popped Children of Men in the DVD player and I was pleasantly surprised. I had'nt heard much about the movie but it was really, really good, the last 20 or 30 minutes of the movie was friggin unreal. Every 2 minutes I was like "holy sh*t" did I just see that.
Tonight I'm staring at a stack of movies trying to decide what to watch: Casino Royale, The Good Shepherd, Blood Diamond, Curse Of The Golden Flower, The Illusionist, Tideland, Calvaire, etc. Maybe it's just me but there have been so many good movies in the past year or two, it's getting hard to keep up.
13 Tzameti - really good foreign film, if you can find this one check it out
The Departed - loved this one
The Illusionist
Harsh Times - good, but reminded a bit of Training Day
Match Point - great, great movie
Babel
Inside Man
Brick - this movie friggin rocked, Levy is on his way to being a major talent
Half Nelson - I'm liking Gossling more and more in every movie
That's all I can think of from the top of my head, but it seems like there's a plethora of good films these days.
