Is it just me or am I the only one scared that I'm possibly gonna die soon?

I mean I'm scared sh!tless about them using germ warfare, or even a nuclear attack on the US. I reside in Honolulu, HI. So I'm kinda scared that they may try to take out Pearl Harbor again. One nuke and Hawaii would be just another crater in the planet. No joke. I'm friggen scared guys.

I really don't want to go out dying holding my family in my arms saying I love you and then bam dead.

Is it a big possibility that this war will include germ warfare, and nuclear attacks?

Well theres one thing to consider.. If it happens theres not much we can do to prevent this.. As the saying goes" I know not what weapons will be used in WW3 , but WW4 will be fought will sticks and stones"
yes the world would end but then again this would mean no life in existence for anyone..
If it were nuclear then you wouldnt even know what hit you.. If it were chemical or germ warfare then thats another story.. My dad was actually telling me that Sadam INSANE actually used germ warfare against his own people.. To bad other countries dont care about LIFE more, then we would have very little to worry about..
But those people dont care about dying at all, what a shame

I hope G Bush makes the right decisions. I hope he does. Everyone, if you can, say a prayer. Even if you don't believe in God. Say a prayer say that you hold your loved ones close to your heart, and that you pray for peace. Please guys, we can do it. We can change our destinys. I don't want to die yet, I'm 19 and I have a beautiful girlfriend and a son. Guys, <voice from waterboy>WE CAN DO IT!</voice from water boy>.

Please guys, have faith in the lord Jesus Christ that we shall be saved. And like you said, if it was meant to be, I guess we'll ALL die and we'll all be reunited in heaven, a place much better than planet earth.

God bless you all, everyone here at Anandtech.

I live 30 minutes from NYC...I'm not scared, but if anyone should be it would probably be me since I would die. I think I may have to start driving down Route 80 and get to the central states as soon as possible if sh*t starts to hit the fan.

No, Im scared also.

Not that we are going to die but that our way of life is going to change and that we may lose some of our cvil liberties. Not in a petty way but in a life changing way. Will we ever feel truely secure even in the USA again?

Im afraid of what will happen if we go to all out war even if it is necessary.

The US will survive but at what cost?

Lets hope good wins out. GBA

Pinoy I don't feel safe anywhere.

No place in this whole entire world could I be safe from attacks.

I know the terrorists have gone overboard and they are gonna get what's coming. But I also think that G Bush should think about US THE PEOPLE. Does he even consider that they may retaliate and bomb us with germ warfare where we will suffer and possibly get our insides eaten until we perish? Or maybe that they'll start sending nukes over to all the US Military bases. G Bush has to take into consideration of all these things. And if he isn't, and if he just thinks "get them back REVENGE" then he's a stupid dumb ass.

I just don't want to die yet. But I know I will go to a better place, but I would like to live out this life as long as I can, but not like this, no fearing whether or not today is my last day alive.

Exactly. You're a citizen of the U.S. so walk tall, my friend. And, while you're walking tall, get the hell outta there if you're seriously that scared!

A lot of people say that stategically this would not be a good time to strike the U.S. with another attack, because these terrorists obviously want "more bang for their buck" and that just would not happen with heightened security and military forces all over the place. Although I'm just afraid that when things start to cool down and we put our guard back down, we may see more of these horrible atrocities. I have this strange gut feeling that doesn't want me to think that "this" is the worst it could be. I feel a little desensitized by this whole thing, like anything that happens from now on will not even shock me. I'm ready for whatever and I'm a little scared.

I feel you Scrapster. I've never cried for such an incidient before. When I heard about the people calling up to say goodbye from the air plane, that was so devastating to me. I put my feet in their shoes and see how it feels. It doesn't feel good at all. Imagine if you were to have to call up your wife or mom/dad and say by mom, I love you, I'm going to die. OMG that is so hurtful. I cried, because of that, and also for the thought that I may no longer even live here. I might die for all we know. All we can do is hope that G Bush is gonna do the right thing, and plan this out correctly, and strategically. Not just an all out assault that will result in armageddon.

Why are you so scared? Won't you go to Heaven if you die? I'm the one that should be afraid, i'm an atheist... but i'm not.

I don't know, sounds like cowardice to me. Don't attack them incase they retaliate? They're attacking already whether the US take actions or not!

I think for the first time in my little bit over 7 years in the military (Army), that I actually had that so called "fear" that hit me. I'm stationed at Fort Meade, which I'm sure many of you know, is home to the NSA.
Well, on that horrible Tuesday afternoon, on just our regular routine day at work, we were just carrying on about our business as usual. We began the day driving our vehicles out to the local gas station, and began filling them all full of diesel. And then, as the whole nation witnessed , I had heard what happened about the first plane. The minutes passed, and when the second plane struck, I thought to myself, "WTF!".
The real fear finally struck me, when the Pentagon was hit. At that moment, I was thinking at what possibilities that being where I'm at could just as well be a listed target as well. I mean.. why would it not. Look at what is located here.

Now, I just work my 14, 15, 16 hour days, and wonder when, where, what time that moment will be, when I will be called upon. I'm scared, but at this point in time, I'm ready to do what I've been doing for 7 years. "Supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and domestic..."

Lets get on with this, and give these bastards a little bit of their own medicine. If you think the 100 hour ground war that pretty much decided the Gulf War outcome was something.. well, I'll tell you this.. all of you non military are in for a real treat. These terrorists are going to experince pain, conflict, hurt, beyond their wildest dreams & imaginations.

i really don't understand why christians are so afraid of death... i mean it's the non-christians that should be afraid, if you're right about god existing and all.

but anyways, as an atheist, no i'm not afraid.

a.) i don't think seattle will be attacked, though i could be wrong
b.) i'm more scared of pain than death.

i believe that once dead, that's it, you cease to exist. so it's not like i'll be around to mourn my death.

Technics, please stop listening to the apocalyptic "warnings". I am old enough to know that EVERY TIME there is any type of disaster these pop up (often the exact same ones, year after year, decade after decade). Yes, things are tense now. PLease do not add to the hysteria (although I know it is hard not to worry). Go out and do the most normal thing you can think of. And please read my PM.

Is it a big possibility that this war will include germ warfare, and nuclear attacks?

Unfortunately, yes. It's pretty well known that Russia was involved in selling nuclear missiles in the black market during the 90's due to their economic plight. This fact could have very well aided other terrorist countries (although there are many who believe that Russia sold them to China, so it might not be all that bad).

Germ warfare poses a threat as well, mainly because it is a highly condensable solution (i.e. someone could come into the U.S. and wipe out all of NYC with a backpack full of the stuff). However, as a result of Tuesday's incidents, it is very unlikely anyone will be able to do such a thing. Security is tight, and America is going to permanently change as a result of these attacks. It's unfortunate that it took such a catastrophe for the U.S. to become more aware of the threats out there; nuclear and germ threats alike.

Well sadly I don't agree. If somebody is determined to do something like that its very easy. Said person could take a boat from europe, for instance, dock up anywhere on the east coast and then they're in the US, where they have free reign to go anywhere.

yea, they ran a story yesterday on how some flight attendants and pilots refused to fly because they were still able to get to the plane without going through security.

this is a very real threat, but it has to be done now. like tony blair said. if you think they have this stuff now, what do you think they are going to posess in 20 or 30 years if we dont stop them? we have to take that risk now to ensure that there wont be worse attacks in the future. just look back at where this goes. 6 people in 93, 168 in 95, 5000 in 2001. do we just sit back so they wont attack us, or do we take the chance and put an end to it? im glad im not the one having to make those decisions, but the right choice will be made.
