I always code for IE, and firefox seems to handle everything just fine. If I code the other way IE always screws up something.

The thing I hate about FF is no matter how much I update it, it stills occasionally starts sucking up an ungodly amount of ram and cpu before finally crashing.

That's exactly what I did. Most of the time I used Firefox (many, many years), I just had AdBlock and IETab. Most of the time, both of those were DISABLED because I wanted to eliminate possible causes for my problems. Firefox *always* had memory usage issues...and I wasn't the only one to notice.

Had to launch Firefox for the first time in a long while to test something for the boss. As expected, it had to update (on the beta channel, so it's going to 10.0.something). Before updating, Firefox said it would have to disable Greasemonkey. -exactly as I've come to expect with every FF update. Has nothing changed?

Ugh. Still the same nonsense wording. Yes, I know what it means...but #$%^ Firefox! It's such a simple change. "Please enter your Master Password."

I still have to enter my master password multiple times whenever I open Firefox and continue working with the tabs I saved. Chrome Sync stores and remembers my password. Why can't Firefox at least have this option? Firefox's master password feature is just a headache, so most people don't use it.

By default, Firefox stores images for a time in uncompressed form. This results in an improvement in speed at the expense of greater memory use. Can be config to preference.

The scenario I'm talking about:

/me notices that Firefox is using an ungodly amount of memory, with only a few simple tabs open.

/me opens a new, blank tab with no back buffer (homepage is about:blank)

/me closes all of the other tabs

/me checks memory usage and finds that it has barely changed at all

Reinforced experience over years and years. With-or-without plug-ins.

Working in tech support, I recommended Firefox to hundreds and hundreds of people. I supported it. I bought the gear on the Firefox online shop. Now that there's another alternative, I find that Firefox has some catching-up to do. I'm not going back to FF as my primary browser unless it uses WebKit and starts using separate processes for each tab.

I have lots of complaints about Google Chrome, too...but the benefits outweigh them.

Why Opera and the EU suck.

Its not like you have to buy IE if you buy Windows. They're giving you something for free.

This is like Ford giving you a free cup holder with your Ford car and being forced to offer you free cup holders from other companies.
