You gotta be fckin kidding me.... do you hire body guards to follow you around with safety pads, and toilet paper?

So, if I were to get into an accident with my plate on my dashboard, are you saying there's NO POSSIBLE WAY the plate can fly off the dashboard and hit a passenger? None at all? Does the liscence plate defy the law of physics in your car?

What, where in the hell did you get that info. It is required by law in NY State to have a front license plate.

Sorry, you're wrong. If you are issued two plates, you must use both of them. Not using the plates could result in a 25-200 fine and 50 dollar surcharge.

Wow, I guess I stand corrected. However, I see so many cars without them that it must not be enforced very often.

I'm not sure where you are but I live in NYC and commute by car daily and see THOUSANDs of cars on a daily basis. Sorry, I almost never see one without the front license plate.

Seriously, Doboji, did you even think before you posted?
If that plate goes flying, it sure as hell ain't gonna feel good when it hits you in the face.

You got pwn3d by the cop.

The policy various between state. It's illegal in Cali, don't know about other states. There's no fricking way I'm putting that ugly plate on the front bumper.

the irony. i was just thinking of ordering a custom JDM license plate for my front bumper. you know, where i have my CA plate number on a JDM plate.

i bought the car 2 weeks ago and the owner never had one on and said she lost it. the DMV wants $16 for a replacement plate. hell nah. the custom plate only runs 20 bucks. i figure no plate is less conspicuous than having a white/green text JDM plate.

and if i did get cited, am i guaranteed a 'fix-it' ticket? or am i at the mercy of the cop? this is CA btw.

Don't they photograph front plates in case you evade a toll-booth or pass through a E-Z pass lane without having one? I also have not seen too many cars without a front licence plate

Life is about minimizing risks in whatever you do. Why take the completely unnecessary risk?

If it's a style issue, IMHO it looks uglier to have the plate on the dash than it does on the front of the car.

Don't go to LAX, that's where I got pulled over for no front plate (99 Tacoma PreRunner). Cops were pullling people over left and right - I counted 5 in 20 minutes. I got a fix it ticket ($10), an inspection fee for LAPD or LA Sheriff (went to CHP for free), and a lecture on how it makes my truck looks suspicous/like a terrorist  at the airport without my front plate on.

That bumper is too nice (looks a heck of a lot like a Caractere front bumper) to drill holes in it to mount a license plate.

Find some high-powered magnets, place them on the back, and hook up your plate that way. It'll save the paint and you won't have to drill any holes.

Depends on the area. We need them in Ohio, and I haven't had one in 10 years. Probably because we're right on the Michigan border, and they don't need them.

Apparently it is.

i didnt know this is illegal

Ignorance of the law is not a valid excuse.

BTW-I think the cop was just being a dick. Just out of curiousity what kind of car were you driving? I used to get pulled over for stupid crap like that but I've found that the best way to avoid getting pulled over is to make sure your car is completely legal. That way they can only pull you over for valid reasons like speeding or other moving violations they actually witness you doing. :D

red VW GTI. i was doing 30 in a 35 (traffic..single lane road). cop was sitting perpendicular to the road on some driveway. i guess my car being red and having nice wheels caught his attention. funny thing is that this is a real small town and I doubt they have more than one patrol car...
