No, not very hard. I had a 2500+ to 3000+ speeds. I could get it to 3200+ speeds but my memory was holding me back and Windows would crap out after a while. I never bothered trying to raise volts or use better memory and just stuck with the overclock to 3000+.
Bartons are still decent chips. They are beginning to show their age, especially with the latest games that use a lot of CPU (Source games like CS:S mostly) but for general use, there's really not much reason to get something better today unless you're serious about video encoding or gaming. For general use, they're great.

Anyone know how hard it is to achieve a 3200+ speeds with a 2800+ chip?

Means you'll have to supply a bit more voltage eh... The RAM is perfectly fine...BTW can't you select a lower multiplier (11x) and raise the FSB to 200MHz, to the exact same specs of a 3200+?

LOL the latter worked! Stock voltage, stock cooler, it's recognized as a 3200+ in BIOS and in CPU-Z! Thanks man! This is awesome!
No, he's gotta OCCT it...Originally posted by: chinkgai
dont get all giddy yet...u gotta prime it![]()
Up the voltage a bit... What are your temps?Originally posted by: Nocturnal
LOL I spoke to soon. It wasn't stable in the least. I was priming it and it just rebooted itself. I guess I could use a better heatsink/fan. What do you guys think?
Idle??? Hmm it could be a bug, but those temps are near deadly... :-S Get yourself a decent HSF...Originally posted by: Nocturnal
Idle in BIOS is around 50c and then when I overclocked it I saw it go up to 60.
