A couple of weeks ago my 5 year old Optiquest V95 began to periodically make a cracking/snapping sound during which the picture would sort of blink. As time went on these snaps became more frequent - like one every two or three minutes. I've been away from home since Tuesday and returning this evening and firing up my system (its been in monitor sleep mode since I've been gone but the system was not turned off), after a few minutes catching up on my e-mail the snapping started with a succession of three or more at a time with the picture collapsing in on itself more at each snap. Finally there was a series of seven or eight snaps and the picture was gone completely - it has never returned since then.
The monitor operates normally otherwise i.e. when the system is off the power LED goes to amber and when bootup has begun the LED goes to green - but no picture. Right now I'm using my wife's monitor which she graciously offered until I get a replacement.
Is my Optiquest repairable? Would the cost of repair be worth it? Is this the time to go LCD? My gaming is pretty much all flight simulation - what is recommended?
Thanks - Jim J.
