Is Galaxy S3 too big of a phone physically?

It's the usual; when I first got the SGS3 it seemed ginormous. Now I look at it and it almost feels small. It's just that I've gotten used to it.

Meanwhile, I look at anything smaller and it seems piddly by comparison.

I usually keep mine in a shirt pocket, or front pants pocket. If I'm in the car it's always on a dash mount, if I'm seated at a desk or table it's on the desk or table.

lol my sgs2 sticks out of my current shirt pocket. wouldn't an SGS3 really stick out?

if you guys wear baggy clothes i can see it ok. some of my jeans are already annoying for my SGS2.... but it seems everyone on AT has giant hands and giant pockets so it's fine.

I also think the phones are getting too big, or people are wearing baggy pants, or they rear pocket it. Or their legs are skinnier than mine..

My jeans/pants are a good fit (not baggy and definitely skinny jeans), but I have thick legs so my pants pockets aren't as spacious as they could be.

I really want the GS3 or GN2, but doubt it'll fit comfortably in my front pockets since they are much bigger than the HD2.

I had an Evo 4g previously--that phone is the exact same size as the HD2. From a pants pocket perspective, the Galaxy Nexus is NOT significantly bigger than the Evo 4g.

If the size is all you're worried about for which phone to get then you have some pretty simple priorities. I'd worry more about other things, especially those unseen by the iPhone 5...

Just go to any carrier and hold one for yourself. No, it's not oversized like the Note.

The GNex (135mm) is 13mm (0.5 inch) taller than the HD2 (122mm). The HD2 is about 1 inch from the top of my pockets.

Size is a priority only because the best phones out now are taller. GNex (135mm), GS3 (136mm), GNote (146mm).

The SG2 is 125mm, but it's old compared to the new phones.

I'll definitely try the SG3 in store next chance I get, maybe the rounded corners will help.

Phones are getting damm outrageous big.
I just bought the original ATT galaxy S2 2 days ago and thats a thing of beauty.
Square-ish, small bezels, 4.3" screen, not glossy plastic all over.
That version has the Exynos so it feels fast. Had it had an HD screen, it'll be perfect for me.

No phone is too big for anybody.
Anybody can hold any phone and use it normal and it'll fit any pocket just fine.
The point is for me is it is comfortable for me on a daily basis ??
My answer is NO.
These 4.8" phones, I can't use 1-handed comfortable.
The pockets are a little more bulgy than normal with a bigger phone.
I've used phones on a daily basis ranging from 3.5" to 4.65".
For me, I love carrying around the iPhone the most but I have to sacrifice screen real estate.
So to compromise, a 4"-4.3" would be perfect for me.

Depends on the shirt obviously. If it "really stuck out" then I wouldn't keep it in my shirt pocket.

I don't consider this, "really sticking out" and it's an average sized men's shirt :

I think some people on AT are possibly midgets. 😉

Honestly my wallet is more uncomfortable in my jeans than my GS3. I don't wear skinny jeans but I do wear more form fitting 7's, diesels, etc. and it feels fine in the pocket. Now I'm also OCD and do not fit anything else in the pocket that I have my fone in however. I know you said you don't wear them but I'd imagine if anyone wears skinny jeans, the pockets wouldn't really be usable in general.

And I'll agree with some other posters...now I want an even bigger screen.

My SGS3 has the exynos chip. 😎

The case on my S3 makes it a little bigger than I would like at times. I'm 5'10" , around 175 w/34" waist and it fits fine in Gap standard jeans for example.

I honestly don't understand why this is a forum question. What does it matter if someone else says it's comfortable or uncomfortable? That doesn't really help you at all... best to just go to a store and see for yourself.
I'm agree with you. But if you are willing to buy this phone, some opinions are useful

The phone fits perfectly fine in pockets unless you're rocking skinny jeans.

It was a bit of an adjustment period for me (from Thunderbolt), but I definitely don't think it's too big. I think this is about the upper bound of my comfort zone size-wise, though.

I also think the phones are getting too big, or people are wearing baggy pants, or they rear pocket it.
I definitely rear pocket my Nexus. It also *fits* in a shirt pocket, but is too bulky/heavy (I believe SGS3 is the same weight) to be comfortable there.

I just went up from a sgs4g to the s3 a week ago and couldn't be happier with the dimensions. I finally have a phone I can type on without my hands cramping up. OTOH me holding a s3 is about the same as your average manlet holding a sgs4g...

I have never seen a guy rear pocket a phone. I know a couple dozen chicks who do it, though.

Just played with by brother-in-law's S3 for a spell, and no, it does not seem too big to me. Actually, it's only a bit longer than my Atrix2, and no wider. MUCH thinner though, and I liked it. Not enough to upgrade, but I liked it.

So have all of you "too big!" folks checked out the imminent Galaxy Victory? (First on Sprint, but apparently soon elsewhere too.)

4" screen, dual-core Krait (though slightly underclocked to 1.2), full-size battery, LTE... Looks like a nice upper-midrange/midsize option.

Also, I'd forgotten that the SGS3 weighs the same as the GSM Nexus, not my clunky LTE one. It's significantly lighter than the latter and is featherweight for its screen size.
