Is Galaxy S3 too big of a phone physically?

I am debating whether to get an S3 or wait a few weeks for the iphone 5. Everyone I see with an S3 never put the phone in his pants pocket, rather he carries it in his hand or have it in his man-purse. So my question to those with the S3: is the phone physically too big for comfort?

Have you gone hands on with one at a carrier store? You can get a get a good feel for the size.

That said, no, its not too big. My Gnex isn't much smaller and fits into my pants pockets easily. It does not, however, fit into any of my running belt pouches.

Easily fits in my front or back pockets in regular jeans. I just have a slim hard case though. Because of how slim it is, its hardly even noticeable in my pocket, and I hate putting things in my pockets.

Size just feels awesome compared to my 4.3" Thunderbolt, just like that did to the 3.7" Incredible. I'd probably be interested in a slightly larger display if available from vzw in the future.

I honestly don't understand why this is a forum question. What does it matter if someone else says it's comfortable or uncomfortable? That doesn't really help you at all... best to just go to a store and see for yourself.

My GF is concerned about the size as well. We went and looked at the store, and I really don't think it will fit in her jean pockets. She often puts her phone in her back pocket when she doesn't have a purse. Her Incredible 1 fits fine, but the new Incredible sucks. She doesn't want an iPhone, so that pretty much leaves the GS3.

It feels fine in hand and in my pocket. It's made me decide that if the galaxy note 2 makes it to Verizon I will have to get it.

Depends a lot on how you want to carry it. My Galaxy Nexus doesn't fit into my jean pockets but it does fit into my more baggy clothes easily.

if you guys wear baggy clothes i can see it ok. some of my jeans are already annoying for my SGS2.... but it seems everyone on AT has giant hands and giant pockets so it's fine.

With the extensive availability of 7" tablets, I dont see why cell phones need to get bigger than lets say the Old Nexus One. I just picked up a HTC One S and it is probably a tad on the large size for me, even though its silly thin. Both the G 3 S and HTC One S are spanking good phones though.

I'm 5'10", average size, and my Nexus easily fits into my work clothes, baggy clothes, casual clothes, whatever I'm wearing.

Yeah, I even still pocket it backwards (screen side out, which means that the curve is opposite my body).

I always wonder about that since my ideal test is to shove it in my pocket and sit down in a chair (in addition to the one hand test). I wonder if the store owners would be suspicious when they see me trying to pocket a demo phone. 🙂

I personally find it way too big and awkward, even though Samsung says it's "designed for humans".

I don't have bigger hands or pockets than the next guy. I have normal clothes and normal-sized hands and I think the GS3 is a bit too small for me.

Fits every pocket I've put it in, jeans included. I haven't tried skinny jeans, though, as I'm a bit plus-sized so they probably wouldn't even reach my knees before being too tight..

It looks big at first, same with my GNEX, but after awhile you it feels just right. Physically the S3 is not that much larger than the Nexus. Try it out for yourself at the store, that's the only way you'll be able to make up your mind imo.

Most of us don't wear skin tight jeans.

I don't. I wear standard jeans. Maybe slim fit sometimes, but definitely not skinny. I'm 5'9" 160-165lbs. Certainly not fat, but not what I'd call skinny either. I've definitely been lighter, but I prefer more form fitting pants, and so classic slacks are no good. I like some slim fit slacks/khakis but sometimes they're on the tighter side and so a tailored cut is better. I wouldn't say slacks in general are too tight. It's jeans that usually end up being a bit tight when I was carrying my 4.7" Windows Phone.

I can see how girls can never fit phones in their pockets though. My gf actually gives me her SGS3 a lot which ends up being annoying because now I have to stuff two phones in my pocket. Especially if we're out at a club/bar, for me to hold a camera on top of that? lol no pockets left....

I wouldn't say the SGS3 is unusable. I just feel more bulky/clumsy holding it. It's pretty ergonomic for its size, but my most extended use could be on my 4.7" Titan 2, and I definitely prefer holding my SGS2 to that.

With that said I do love the SGS3 screen. When I look at my SGS2, I go damn this thing is small (I freak out everytime I pull out my iPod Touch in my car to enter in my gas log when I get gas). It's tempting to get an SGS3, but at the same time I want to see the next Nexus. I think 4.5" would be a good compromise size.
