Is drinking water with meals a bad thing?

I like to drink lots of water while eating (1-2 large cups). But my friends tell me it's bad for my health because water will dilute my gastric acids and will slow down/mess up my digestion.

Nutrition sites claim the opposite, saying water is really good because it fills up your stomach and helps you feel full faster.

Who is right here? Is it truly bad for you to drink lots of water while eating?

Well... in order to answer that question, we need to know what medical degrees your friends all have.

Your friend probably read some story on the internet about hyponatremia and equates drinking water = bad. Just another casualty of people being stupid.

I literally can't stand it if I don't have water while, or immediately after eating. It's a pet peeve and a really annoying habit of mine, but at least it's not something worse 🙂

ask your friends what early man had with their meals...soda? milk?

By their understanding, we never should have evolved.
