That's like a gram of caffeine.... pure.... a day.... I remember it (coffee) being omnipresent beverage at all functions prior to 1973.

both him and i could drink a 20oz coffee at 11 pm, be asleep at 11:15 and sleep for 8 hours

The slight heal benefits of the other tea ingredients do not compensate for the HFCS....sure you might get a few antioxidants in you, but what good is that when your liver is having a hard time processing the sweetener.

That's why 100% whole wheat bread is not as good as people think or "multi-grain" bread. Read the ingredients and HFCS is usually 2nd or 3rd on the list.

there are many breads out there that use molasses, honey or brown sugar for sweetener....a bit more pricey, but they also taste better IMO, and better for you.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this question in any of the political debates, "Are you going to continue the current sugar tariffs and farm subsidies so that we're forced to continue using HFCS?" Sugar will be cheap if we just stop taxing the hell out of it.

If you want to worry about it drink water, tap that is, bottled water just someone elses tap that you pay someone to truck around the world in plastic.

If you want the caffiene then screw it you might as well consign yourself that you've chosen to be unhealthy. Or take a nodoze.

caffeine is not the issue here, seeing as how I'm on a 4 cup a day coffee habit.

it's something sweet to go along with dinner that i need.

only 4 cups

weaksauce

haha. I've only recent acquired the taste for hot brewed coffee (by recent I mean last week).

Before that, I ONLY drank cold/iced coffees

1. cafe sua da > *
2. grande mocha frap, extra shot, extra shot mocha, no whip
3. grande iced americano

real men drink black coffee
12-16 cups a day been like that for years
my dad drinks nearly 2 pots a day, has for ~30 years

i drink my real coffee straight black

i just think the other stuff tastes alot better

cafe sua da still > * =P

I have not drank commerical sugar-water since a child however, I posit that Schnapple may be marginally "less worse" if it at least claims some vitty content. If addicted to sugar with no intention of quitting then at least save your scratch by making your own. A li'l lemon or lime with sugar should give a comparable fix -indeed you may find being sassified with considerably less sugar than in the sarsaparilla (MY generic name for bicarbonate of soda) you are accustomed to.

If you want to go for a drink light on the sugar, I'd give Snapple's Earl Grey a shot. Has about a quarter of the sugar, and tastes pretty good.

Real men don't have to hit the bathroom 10 times a day.

Making your own tea is always better... 3 teaspoons or so in a 10oz cup vs 15 teaspoons in the soda or Snapple.

I've been drinking the Lipton green tea /w honey and the white tea /w raspberry since they now use sugar instead of hfcs. It's pricey but tastes good so whatever.

snapple is overpriced soda.

snapple would be better than coke.
Fruit juice better than both :)

Coke has phosphoric acid.
Thats the stuff that dissolves teeth enamel.
Its so strong that they coat the inside of the aluminum cans with varnish, to preven the coke from dissolving the aluminum.

Coke also works good as a metal cleaner.
Great for copper pots and pans .

Makes you think twice about drinking it ,

Yeah, I remember grade school experiments (oops, let the cat outta the bag didn't I?) wherein the caustic properties of sarsaparilla were demonstrated by soaking various items such as coins and seashells. The former were polished and the latter proceeded to dissolve. Drink up, man-children!

*sigh*

It's acidic. Big deal. It's less acidic than any citrus fruit, but you guys don't seem to be railing on and on about the evils of lemonade. Sea shells dissolve because they're made of calcium carbonate. You can do the same thing with an eggshell and vinegar. Oh noes! Not vinegar!

Guess what? It's far less acidic than your stomach!

Yeah, and drinking vinegar and regurgitating stomach acid is also frowned upon for the same reason: it damages tissues and teef. The sarsaparilla has the added bonus of processed sugars to additionally rot your teef.
