Picked up a snapple today.

Figures aren't exact but...

16oz snapple = 200 calories, 48g sugar

ingredients: water, HFCS, citric acid, tea, natural flavors

12oz coke = some 140 calories, 38ish g sugar. ingredients: HFCS + stuff

No caffeine in Snapple? Seriously, it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Natural flavors are not really "better" than artificial, that's a myth.

the only thing you are saving your body from in that case is the carbonation (which is certainly good).
Here's the trick, do it in moderation (as with anything) and you are perfectly fine.

Yes it is. Snapple (some of it anyway) has no preservatives and no added colors or flavors. It is still very high in sugar, but if you need a sugar fix and it's coke or Snapple, go for the Snapple.

It's probably slightly better in that it doesn't literally rot your teeth (eventually the high pH of Coke will do at least some damage to your teeth and possibly your stomach or something). But it's not healthier, no.

No, it's still high in sugar. I used to like Arizona Tea, until I realized I was consuming more sugar than regular soda.

If you want to worry about it drink water, tap that is, bottled water just someone elses tap that you pay someone to truck around the world in plastic.

If you want the caffiene then screw it you might as well consign yourself that you've chosen to be unhealthy. Or take a nodoze.

caffeine is not the issue here, seeing as how I'm on a 4 cup a day coffee habit.

it's something sweet to go along with dinner that i need.

haha. I've only recent acquired the taste for hot brewed coffee (by recent I mean last week).

Before that, I ONLY drank cold/iced coffees

1. cafe sua da > *
2. grande mocha frap, extra shot, extra shot mocha, no whip
3. grande iced americano

If your looking to get away from sugar then you'll have to try making the tea yourself and putting sugar in, usually less than commercial stuff. Or try that Crystal light stuff, it's not bad, depending on your opinion about artificial sweeteners. I can't stand the diet snapple.

I can sympathize tho, need the caffiene but occasionally need it cold, iced tea, iced coffee, soda. After working 12s and doing nights and occ 24s, my caffiene habit is about 10-14 cups of coffee per day, or I get a wicked headache.

Is that 200 calories per serving? Don't they usually count 8oz as 1 serving? Or is 200 the entire amount for 16oz?

Not all Snapple flavors have tea. In fact, I think the tea flavors taste nasty and I really like tea. My graduate department provides free tea bags of all kinds of flavors, so that may be part of the reason.

I enjoy regular flavor of snapple; Acai Blackberry is really good.

Coke isn't any worse for you than snapple. I wish they'd stop using HFCS, sugar is so much better. There's a taco shop near me that sells coke from Mexico (made with sugar, it's right there on the ingredient list; no HFCS) and you can really taste the difference.

:Q Damn, sleep much?
That's like a gram of caffeine.... pure.... a day.... I remember it (coffee) being omnipresent beverage at all functions prior to 1973.

Green tea is good for you, and it has caffeine...

HFCS in any product make it a health no-no.

The slight heal benefits of the other tea ingredients do not compensate for the HFCS....sure you might get a few antioxidants in you, but what good is that when your liver is having a hard time processing the sweetener.

That's why 100% whole wheat bread is not as good as people think or "multi-grain" bread. Read the ingredients and HFCS is usually 2nd or 3rd on the list.

there are many breads out there that use molasses, honey or brown sugar for sweetener....a bit more pricey, but they also taste better IMO, and better for you.

And the proof that said preservatives/colors/flavors are bad for you in anyway?

Go ahead, find me a study saying any of those three things are bad.
