He's the smart one. The idiots are the ones that listen.

He's far from a "Doctor" at this point. He's pure entertainer. Did you post the same thread when Judge Wapner or Judy took to TV the first time too?

Except Wapner actually has a law degree from USC Law School and was a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles county. Judge Judy was a family court judge and has a law degree from New York Law School.

Dr Phil is a hack who isn't even licensed to practice psychology.

Ummm he's a licensed doctor (and swimmer!). WTF is your incorrect point?

From Wiki:
McGraw graduated from the Midwestern State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He went on to earn a master's degree in experimental psychology, and a Ph.D in clinical psychology at the University of North Texas, where his dissertation was titled "Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Psychological Intervention." He also participated in the swimming programs at the two schools.[3]

Ummm, actually he's not. :p

Ethical violation
The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists imposed disciplinary sanctions on McGraw on January 27, 1989 for an inappropriate "dual relationship" reported in 1988 by a therapy client/employee from 1984. McGraw was ordered by the Board to take an ethics class, pass a jurisprudence exam, complete a physical evaluation, undergo a psychological evaluation and have his practice supervised for one year in order to continue his private practice in Texas. McGraw admits to giving the client a "job" at his office (which is not allowed), but denied carrying on a sexual relationship with the 19 year old, who says their relationship was "sexually inappropriate."[7][2][8] As of 2008, McGraw is still not licensed to practice psychology.

You're right. I was hung up on the "Doctor" part. Not the "licensed" part.
Conceded, but he is/was a "Doctor" who did practice etc. It's not like he just started calling himself "Dr. Phil" one day.

Interesting though. When you aren't licensed anymore are you still a "Dr."? Wonder how that works.

More back to the point though... he's not the idiot. The IDIOTS are those that listen and follow him. He's outsmarted millions... even Oprah!

Any person with a doctorate degree could appropriately go by "Dr. _____," although it doesn't really make sense to do so in every context.

Funny scene from Friends:
In a hospital to see Rachel's dad who had a heart attack
Ross: And I'm Doctor Ross Geller.
Rachel: Ross, please, this is a hospital, ok? That actually means something here.

Now I'm not defending the nutball Britney Spears but this guy is a fucking douchebag.

Know your subject before commenting.

Dr. Phil is a 'TV doctor'...he is hardly an idiot IMHO as he is profiting majorly from all the idioticity he does that the sane can easily see through.

He offers hope for the weak.

Yet he's dining with GWB and giving advice to millions of idiots in this country on a daily basis...does this not give him some credibility? Hell, in this country he could probably be elected president based soley on popularity.

Is Dr Phil the biggest idiot on the planet?

Roger that...but then again, if Britney Spears goes to him...that makes him one of the biggest AND richest idiots on the planet...
(in this case, I think they deserve each other...)

I think as long as you have a Ph.D, you can call yourself a doctor. A couple teachers at my school are doctors - one teaches history, the other physics. I don't think Phil is an MD, though. So no prescriptions for Britney from him.

He has a PH.D in Psychology so he is credible...however; he is using his 'Doctor' shingle to dupe a lot of people that don't understand the differences.

From a 4th tier school and he isn't even licensed to practice. Face it, he's a complete hack...and not at all credible given his background. Why anyone listens to this fool is beyond me.

It doesn't matter who is helping Britney, what matters is someone is trying to help her.

Britney is close to being at rock bottom it appears, for all we know, if she doesn't get help soon, she may wind up dead within a year.

Dr Phil was probably asked by a family member to see if he could assist.

For all the Dr Phil bashers, try looking at the big picture.
The big picture being getting Britney some help ASAP.

We ARE looking at the big picture. Thats the whole fucking point.
If Britney is in trouble she DOES need help. And Dr Phil is NOT help.
He is a sorry excuse for a human being and its a joke to think he could help anyone, let alone someone with real problems.

Whether or not you think he actually "helps" people, or was invited by a family member, he didn't need to bring a fvcking camera crew with him. That just proves how much of an ass he truly is.
