Is chivalry dead?

Is it not ok to hold the door open for women any more? I was admonished for doing this earlier today. She went on some feminist equality diatribe about how women can do things for themselves and don't need men to hold them down

wtf?

Tell her to remove the stick from her ass and get back in the kitchen. 😀

What is this "US" you speak of? Pic or else!

A man holding a door open for a woman has nothing to do with equality, it's just good manners. Sounds like this woman doesn't have any. I always say "thank you" when a door is held open for me.

I actually hold the door open for both sexes. If I happen to reach the door before someone else, I'll hold the door open for them and let them go through first regardless of sex.

Did she walk through the door? Tell her to walk back outside and go through it on her own. When she tries, hold the door shut and calmly explain that "this is what holding someone back looks like"

What a bitch. I always hold the door open and other such courtesies when I can. It isn't men holding women down. Far from it, it's a man paying the proper respect to a lady, which obviously she is not (which I might have told her right then and there, provided I wasn't also in shock from her extreme rudeness as you rightly were).

I hold the door open for ANYONE who is behind me.. man or woman. It's just good manners to do so.

She sounds like a terribly sad person...I would have said something to her.

superman punch, right leg kick, single leg takedown, pass to mount position and elbow her face till the ref stops you.

Same here... I try to open the door or hold it for people and I've never gotten a reaction much different than a nice "thank you".

I have that same terrible habit...I always hold the door for whomever is behind me...

At the local college, I'm constantly amazed at how many young people don't do this...they let the door slam in the face of the person behind them...(rude little pricks!)

OP, as was said in a similar elevator thread a while back, you should have responded with something like:
"Gee, you didn't look like a rude bitch when I decided to wait and hold the door for you. Guess I was mistaken." (paraphrased, not quoted exactly)
