i often hold the door open for people regardless of their gender. i've never had any other response except thanks.

As do I. I guess I'm a gentlewoman. lolI hold the door open for ANYONE who is behind me.. man or woman. It's just good manners to do so.
I normally treat women with a little bit of extra courtesy
