As far as I know the Americans have no working ship mounted rail gun.
The Chinese do!!

I believe the Chinese rail gun looks like this.

The turret spotted indicates the presence of a railgun. It's large, for one, with a barrel that measures 26-33 feet in length and 12 to 20 inches in diameter. That's 2-3 times the cannon caliber of conventional tube artillery barrels, which generally have a diameter-to-caliber ratio of 1.25:1. Alternatively, a 350-400mm naval mortar could explain the the barrel diameter and length, but such a large mortar would be hilariously unnecessary

to be honest that doesnt look like a rail gun...

This is General Atomics:

This is BAE's

You see how the nozzle of both cannons are oval and not circular?
Thats because the top and bottom are laced with coils for this kind of effect:

Lastly... even if it was a rail gun, and i honestly say this..
If BAE industries still couldnt get it right, the made in china version will most likely explode or just be a giant coil cannon, then a true mach 7 projectile launching rail cannon.

Looks more like a water cooled gatling gun, a la Phalanx.

If it was a CIWS like a Phalanx I think it would have greater vertical articulation. It also would not be a big deal and hence no need to disguise the dimensions with that camo-wrap. China has had a Phalanx style gun for a long time.

They're supposedly working on a Phalanx that combines a missile launcher with the CIWS on a single platform, so it possibly could be that. But if forced to guess I'd bet it's a rail gun. They're never going to out build our navy, there's no way they can make enough carriers and subs to match us ship for ship. If they want to even get close to leveling the playing field enough to kick our 7th Fleet out of their back yard they damn well would be working on a ship mounted rail gun.

Meh. That's so twentieth century. In the twenty-first century, military might is measured by percentage of transexuals in the force. China is simply pimping old technology.

When we find someone pimping transsexuals, we'll be sure to keep you in mind. ;)

I thought that it wasn't that difficult to make a working rail gun. Its making one that you can fire more than a few times without destroying the barrel thats the difficult bit.

Graphite reserves my dood, India and China are supreme for low-cost graphene production in extremely high volumes. Defense budget would probably cover the costs for China, anyway.
