I think it is too early to say. Many presidents stumbled along during their first year(s) and did an okay job. Give the guy a chance to get his administration up and running.

I agree with Red Dawn.
I think Bush is in a transition time.
I'm sure he's used to "Texas" talk.

It must suck not to be able to say common words like CRAP or SWEET. Being President would suck @$$.

As long as Bush surrounds himself with intelligent people like Powell, he doesn't need to be that smart himself IMO. I don't think he's a stupid man, but he just lacks grace.

<< A man said to me: "you know, any regular guy, who knows God, can do the job of President better than the most polished Liberal BSer" >>

the "man" was probably a liberal BSer.

did anyone read the Time man of the year article? that may be the real bush.

frankly, he just might not have a gift for public speaking. if you had some really big hot lights pointing at you and you new everything you said would be scrutinized for the smallest error you would probably screw up too.

I think another question we have to ask is:
Is Gore a robot?

"Al I though you were dead!"
"I'm Al Gore, I only appear that way"

I don't understand the statement "Is bush an idiot?" Geez, well, first off, even tho it WAS A VERY CLOSe race, how many ppl can ever even get that far into presidential election, let alone and win? True, his family got $$$ and connections (lots of them); so did the KENNEDY's (o yeah, i forgot, mafia?)

Went to Harvard and graduated summa cum laude and MBA from Harvard (I think, I was told, but not verified)..Even RICH PPL Can't BE STUPID AND BECOME PRESIDENTS!! They MAY BE lost in words, but doesn't mean their intelligence is of an idiot <---some ppl are like that.

I know lots of RICH ASS people, and believe me, they ARE IDIOTs...but to tell me GWB is an idiot? omfg....your the idiot to even think that...

first off, I am independent, I don't really mind either Gore or Bush. But I here ppl saying Gore is more intelligent etc etc...I'm like, wat do u do for a living, make your $50k a year and go to your 9-5 job? Tell me GWB is an idiot when you make about $50 million/ year...

He's not an idiot, but he is certainly not an intellectual giant either.

He just come across as "overmatched." I know some people think it doesn't matter, but political foes (foreign and domestic) will use that to their advantage, especially when trying to line up public opinion against his initiatives.

So you think money equates intelligence? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Static911 for president!

We did not put Bush in power because of his glib public speaking ability or willingness to BS people (a thing that easily lead Dems and Moderates seem to relish).

He is in power to gradually swing the government back to one that is Constitutionally grounded. Expect a relentless onslaught of Ashcroft type moves as we bring this Nation back to Truth.

Are you afraid of Bush and his government? No need to be, unless you have become comfortable (and actually came to believe the Liberal agenda was legitimate) with a government that makes up the rules as it goes, and not one based on the Written Law.

Let the Party begin...!!

You and reps didn't put him in office at all. 5 of 9 activist supreme court partison judges gave him the keys to 1600 Penn. Ave.

He is so bad, mother nature is going to piss on his parade tommorow. Consider it an omen.;)

Governor Bush seems to be extremely rude. He is rude to other people, especially the press. I know the press are annoying but please. He has no intelligence.

Actually, if you want to get technical......according to a site on him I found during the election purely by accident, he has an IQ of 151........hardly an idiot........maybe he's one of those "so smart he's dumb" people????? Also, if you look at his transcipts, he was almost a straight A student throughout his accademic career. More than I can say for myself! LOL! ;)

Public speaking has little to nothing to do with intelligence. Bush is not a very charismatic speaker, so what. I'll wait and see how he handles the presidency before proclaiming him to be an idiot just because he can't pronounce a couple words or forgot the names of some third world leaders. I have met many intelligent people who have trouble pronouncing certain words and are terrible public speakers and who get flustered trying to find the right words in conversations as well. Bush is probably nervous because the media are gunning for him, and he doesn't want to say anything that can be twisted out of context. God knows I would be after all that bunk about a "Supreme Court / Republican coup".

EDIT: About the SC handing W the keys to the WH, the media sponsored "total count" in Palm Beach ended with Bush gainig six votes on Gore. The media counted the ballots in the same way they had been counted before the recounts ended, meaning dimpled and hanging chads were counted. The gist of this is the Bush did actually win Palm Beach county which renders the SC mandated halt of the recounts to have been moot. It also negates claims that the SC gave Bush the election.

Bush's IQ 150? That is an outright lie. His IQ isn't on public record. The fact that some republican weasel would resort to lying about it however speaks volumes of their integrity.

Only a fool would underestimate his opponent. That's a mistake that the Republicans made many times with Clinton and now it looks like the Democrats are going to repeat it.

I'm not going to say that Bush is the sharpest tool in the shed but, that is not necessarily a bad thing. I think that everyone here would agree that besides his moral character, Clinton's biggest weakness was his ego. I doubt that after all the putdowns W has endured, he has much ego left.

Static911: GWB did not graduate from Harvard summa cum laude. Far from it. He went to Yale (Bush legacy) and graduated a diehard fratboy with a C average. Went to Harvard business school -> connections. Certainly don't have to be a genius to get into a good business school anyhow.
