No matter how you put it you still can't deny that Budweiser is a widely drank beer here in the US. Of course just because everyone drinks it doesn't make it good but what that does mean is that it isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I prefer darker beer for the taste but when I'm just kicking back with the guys and we're all trying to get as fvcked up as we can we can't go wrong with Bud.
This is due to two major things. First, Budweiser is a marketing machine. They practically forcefeed their beer down your throats. Heck, I was in a bar a few weeks ago and a Budweiser promotions girl was in there and bought me a Bud Light because I was drinking something else much tastier. The average joe is going to see all the advertising and check it out. Budweiser isn't bad by any stretch, it's just there is much better out there to explore and experience.
Secondly, your average packie (can you tell where I'm from?) doesn't carry much more then the standard selection of "American" beers. Bud, Miller, Coors, Michelob, Molson (yes I know that's Canadian), Natural and all their lights, ices, dry's, etc. Your average joe shopping in the average packie doesn't have that much opportunity to try imports, microbrews, and such offerings other than the widely known stuff (Corona, Heineken, Guiness...to name a few).
