I've never eaten his cooking, but someone gave me his grilling cook book and it has some tasty recipes as well as some educational information on grilling.

No idea about his actual food products, but on tv, he comes off like a real dick.

naturally you had nothing substantial to add to the thread.....

Hey... you're the guy who put the typo in the header.

But, since you complained that I didn't add anything substantial to the thread...

Bobby Flay is kind of a jerk. I once met him at the Mohegan Sun Food and Wine fest, where he did a cooking demo and a book signing. He was rude and cranky because his limo was late.

His food is fantastic, though. Bar Americain and Mesa Grill both have great food. Even his burger joint is pretty good.

If you want to meet a celebrity chef, Robert Irvine is awesome. I would totally hang out with that guy at a bar, even though he hit on my wife when she asked him for an autograph! Alex Guarnaschelli is cool as well. I met her when I went to Butter in NYC.

Bobby Flay is a complete douchebag.

But yes, he really is that good. Realize that he is world class in basically every type of cuisine you could possibly imagine, on top of being able to run a commercial kitchen and train total morons into being some of the best. His recipes are also really good. He knows his shit.

I used to be a big Food Network watcher. then took a long break, then started watching it this year. But I remember when Iron Chef was still a Japanese show, and it was my favorite. They kinda had an east meets west Iron Chef and it was Morimoto vs Bobby Flay. I loved Morimoto. During the show Flay climbed up onto a table and onto a cutting board and did a 'raise the roof' thing. I thought he was the biggest douchebag.

A gf took me to Morimoto's first restaurant in Philly, and Morimoto walked down the aisle of the restaurant past our table and I politely said hello, then gave him a high five and said 'Thanks for kicking Bobby Flay's ass!'

I also challenged Bobby Flay to a falafel throwdown. He had beaten a falafel joint in Manhattan called Taim, known as one of the city's best, while filming Throwdown. My falafel food truck had been getting rave reviews and was compared very favorably to Taim, with some preferring our version, and others Taim's. So Flay did a book signing in northern NJ and when it was my turned to get my book signed I challenged him to a throwdown and gave him my food truck card. Never heard from them obviously.

But the Flay grew on me. It's TV so you never know how much is totally staged and how much isn't, but the guy certainly seems to have some skills. He seems to have mellowed out a bit at least on TV and knows how to do humble when it's needed. I've met a few people that rave about his restaurants.

But whatever, it's just TV people. It's a cult of personality.

Israeli all the way! We loved falafel and between our already existing knowledge, we taste tested bunches of falafel from all regions of the middle east in NYC.

Israeli falafel was by far the best. Not Syrian. Not Lebanese. Not Egyptian.

NO FILLERS IN THE CHICKPEAS!!!!!!! Lot's of herbs in the falafel mix. All spices fresh toasted. Couple other tricks. And thick Isreali pita that holds together. We got our Pitas from a Jewish bakery in Brooklyn that was closed on every single. Jewish holiday.

Israeli falafel - it's fantastic.

Nice!!! Do you still have the food truck going? If yes, next time I'm in NYC, I'm seeking you out!
